Get a head start on 2026 Tertiary Fees
Selwyn Year 12 and 13 students can now apply to get a head start with their fees, through the Council’s tertiary scholarship fund.
There are 12 scholarships up for grabs, including eight scholarships for year 12 and 13 students attending Darfield High School, Ellesmere College, Lincoln High School or Rolleston College. In addition, there are four scholarships to be awarded to students regardless of which school they attend, including home schoolers.
The scholarship is awarded to secondary students who reside in Selwyn and are planning to undertake full-time education/training at a recognised university, polytechnic or training institution in New Zealand.
Receiving a scholarship for her studies this year in Law and Political Science at the University of Canterbury, Rolleston College alumna Mackenzie Wills (pictured) strongly recommends the Tertiary Scholarship to other high school students.
She says receiving the scholarship “has eased the financial pressure of tuition and living costs, allowing me to focus more fully on my academic and personal growth at University.”
Her advice to those considering applying is to be authentic and passionate in their applications, “showcase not only your academic achievements but also your commitment to making a positive impact in your community. I’m incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received.”
Students who have achieved outstanding success in academic, sport, cultural, art, social responsibility or other areas at school or in their community, and students who have overcome barriers or hardships, are encouraged to apply.
Applications for the scholarships are open until 5pm, Friday 25 July.
