CORONAVIRUS – how can you minimise the risk?

With the cooler weather not far away the risk of COVID-19 and other flu and cold like illnesses will increase. Here’s a few handy hints to keep your facility as germ free as possible: l Don’t tough it out – if you are sick, think about everyone around you.

A sniffle for you, might be the flu for them. Stay at home. The team will thank you for it. If you are the only one around, try to minimise your contact with anyone. l Ensure you cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze, use tissues and dispose of them immediately. Maintain at least 1 metre distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing. l Have a flu shot and encourage everyone you work with and are surrounded by, to have one too. l Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick. l Do you have any hand sanitiser around? Keep it on your front desk, in your bathrooms, use it regularly after touching things.

Sanitise your trolley handles, your door knobs, keyboards that you share – look around at anything that might have the potential to

spread germs. Clean them and clean them regularly. Encourage customers to do the same, offer them some sanitiser wipes as they enter your facility. l Stay informed on the latest developments about COVID19. Follow advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. l National and local authorities

will have the most up to date

information on whether COVID-19 is spreading in your area. They are best placed to advise on what people in your area should be doing to protect themselves. l
