This Memorial Day, I have been proudly reflecting on our company’s American heritage, from our beginnings in Vermont, where we still craft wood furniture today, to our workshops in North Carolina, the furniture capitol of the world, where much of our upholstery is made.
When other companies moved their manufacturing abroad, we chose to stay within North America. We looked to Mexico to expand our upholstery operations, and Honduras to increase our wood furniture production capabilities.
In these workshops, our craftspeople combine timeless techniques and modern technological skill to craft furniture that lives up to our reputation for lasting quality. WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES… an inspiring open house leads to a luxurious new home
Sometimes, when you walk into a home, you know it’s the one. That was how it felt for a client who toured a home, fell in love, and made an offer—but the home went to a different buyer!
Undeterred, the client made a plan to have her dream home no matter what. She asked the real estate agent about the interior designer behind the home—and decided if she couldn’t buy it, she’d build it instead. The client and her husband visited Ethan Allen in The Woodlands, Texas, met Natalie LeMier, and asked her to bring the design style they fell in love with to their new 5,000-square-foot home.
Working from the new home's plans, Natalie brought a vision for a sophisticated, livable luxe space to life. Within a blush, cream, and gold palette, Natalie filled the room with dimension: the quiet hero of luxurious spaces. She told us, “We spent eight hours choosing pillow fabrics—the living room alone has fifteen different fabrics in it—with the goal of being able to feel all the layers.”
The old saying that metals should match? Natalie doesn’t believe in it! In fact, she says a mix of metals adds to a luxurious design. “Not every metal has to be the same. If we mix the finishes with differences in color, sheen, and texture, it’s a much more ‘collected over time’ look that doesn’t feel like you’ve bought it from a showroom.”
Natalie used accents to create a livable, down-to-Earth moment among her elevated selections. Just one example? Our Desert Smoke vases, shown on the coffee table. “Each is one of a kind, and it makes them special. They bring in warmth and movement, anchoring the space.”

When asked what she loves about the design process, Natalie says, “My favorite is when I have the presentation all set up.
I’ve taken the information they’ve given me, I’ve seen their home— I’ve found the way to give them what they wanted but didn’t know how to ask for. When they come in and they’re speechless, it lets me know that I’ve listened well. That’s rewarding for me.”
