We first began making wood furniture in Beecher Falls, Vermont, and our sawmill is still operational there to this day. It‘s where we take in responsibly sourced logs from Appalachian forests; grade, mill, and kiln-dry them; and use the wood to craft elements of some of our best-known pieces.
In Orleans, Vermont, we use the wood milled in Beecher Falls, relying on technology via state-of-the-art C&C machines to create intricate designs for table legs and pedestals, and then assembling, sanding, and finishing each piece by hand.
In Maiden and Claremont, North Carolina, the furniture capital of the world, we handtailor fabric upholstery and craft exposed wood frames.
Our Silao, Mexico, workshop makes fabric upholstery but also specializes in genuine leather upholstery, working with artisan-dyed hides that they cut and expertly color blend.
At our wood furniture workshop in Honduras, we craft a wide range of wood furniture, including pieces that require detailed wood carving.
As a lot of furniture brands have moved their manufacturing overseas, we‘ve strengthened our commitment to making products close to home. We make them one of a kind, one at a time—that‘s the Ethan Allen way and always will be.

VINTAGE LOOKS, MEET MODERN LIFE reimagining 1920s style for 2025 living
When you move into a home built more than a century ago, it often needs to be reimagined for how you want to live today. New Ethan Allen clients, on the recommendation of a family member, reached out to Jennifer Atristain of our Design Center in Roseville, California, for help.

The clients wanted to redo their family room, which they had placed into their Tudor Revival home’s formal dining room, but the layout never felt right. Jennifer showed them another way: The formal living area they had in a different room could be the family room they wanted—and the formal dining room could be the room it was always meant to be!
Jennifer began by reworking each room’s layout. The clients wanted Old World style, which drew them to our Mansfield sofas in deep brown leather; they also wanted to watch TV together like every modern family. “3D planning really helped demonstrate the TV viewing perspectives,” she explains. “We went through many design scenarios to get it just right.”
The couple already owned a collection of vintage pieces and, when they toured the Design Center, the wife fell in love with our Red Heron artwork for their reclaimed dining room. “It perfectly complemented the vintage floral art they were gifted by husband’s mother, so coral red became the accent color that would pop the home’s palette.”
What began as a challenge that had been puzzling the couple for a long time became a design project that made them feel excited about their home all over again. “It’s a sign I’m doing something right,” Jennifer shares, “creating a space that means something to them.”

The wood used to make them is selected, kiln-dried, and milled in Beecher Falls, right by the Canadian border; it's also where we make our our textured tabletops.
