In our wood furniture workshops, you’ll see as much excitement over a particularly fine log as you’ll see pride in perfectly sanded, selected, and matched dining table planks. Our craftspeople do everything from selecting and milling logs themselves, kiln-drying the wood, shaping and assembling each piece, to sanding, distressing, and finishing your furniture.
In our upholstery workshops, you’ll see artists dedicated to selecting perfectly matched leather hides, getting every stitch just right, and applying details like nailhead trim with exceptional care.

how one client’s collection became a whole new home
Some clients just know what they want. For this client, it was the work of Joe Panzer from Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. She saw Joe’s portfolio on Ethan Allen’s website, fell in love—and the rest was history.
When the client relocated from Chicago to Arizona, then to Pennsylvania, she and her husband brought their furniture—much of which was Ethan Allen—with them. Joe recalls, “She’s a lifelong Ethan Allen client who is very familiar with our products. She knows what she wants.”
The challenge: her new house was larger, and she saw it needed a lot of work to make it feel like a home. Joe’s goal: helping her see Ethan Allen in a fresh way for this new chapter.
Because the client had loved Ethan Allen’s older British Classics collection, they chose a West Indies vibe, featuring an earthy tropical palette, abundant texture— the client loves a good grasscloth—and touches of animal print. “I knew her aesthetic as soon as I walked into her living room,” Joe recalls. “We had to get creative about incorporating existing pieces and new items.”

In the living room, Joe suggested remixing the client’s classic Ethan Allen chairs with a new fabric. He also moved the client’s Yves side chairs from her former breakfast nook to her new formal dining room, adding matching host chairs to finish the look.
With Joe’s help, the client was able to relocate her entire life to a new state while still preserving the vibe that she loved. “What I love about the final result is how curated it is,” says Joe. “Each room blends as you go from one to the next.”
To Joe, relationship building comes first and foremost; the design aspect comes second. “I don’t look at it as going above and beyond, but as caring about my customer and being a part of their community. I want my clients to know I show up when they need me.”
