The Square Knot can be used on light loads to tie up a package or haul bag, or tie a handline to a pole. It is unsuitable for wet or slippery ropes, and should be used with caution- it unties easily when either free end is jerked.

SELCAT loves spreading the word about our amazing apprenticeship program and the opportunities it has to offer people. Any and everyone! From high schoolers to service members to veterans to other schools to adults to people with ears to basically EVERYONE! You get where I'm going with it! SELCAT is a United States Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship program. What does that have to do with it? As part of the set of "Standards" SELCAT adheres to to be registered, we made a commitment to Outreach! That means we want everyone out there to hear about our apprenticeship and what amazing opportunities it brings, especially in the Outside Power Line Industry with NECA and the IBEW! Each month we continue to Outreach to as many people as possible! In the month of March, SELCAT participated in 7 Outreach events from Edgewater, FL, to Camp Le June, NC, to multiple schools throughout the Southeast. In participating in these events, we are reaching (just in March) 200+ Line College Graduates, 19,000 high school students (large portion thanks to SLCC NECA and Knox County Schools), and 450+ active service members or veterans. If our schedule is free, we would love to come out and spread the word about our apprenticeship! Also, keep a watch in our Newsletter and on our Socials for the date for our "It's NAW Y'all" Skilled Apprenticeship Career Fair during this year's National Apprenticeship Week. We hope to host a statewide career fair for high schoolers to come out and learn about ALL kinds of Registered Apprenticeship opportunities.
