Kraft Yourself
Kraft Yourself A Journal Journals offer an exceptional and exciting way to record life events, memories and do general planning. Jotting down thoughts is an artistic expression of your inner self as it helps with reflection and evaluation. When you craft one yourself it becomes even more personal.
Supplies Needed:
Crafting Steps
• A5 Cardstock (18 sheets)
1. Join two sheets of cardstock and binding glue to make the journal cover in landscape position. Give it
• Patterned/decorative paper • Embellishments of your choice • Decorative pens • A ruler • Scissors • Binding glue
five minutes to dry. 2. Take the remaining cardstock and trim 1cm (landscape) then make some crises of 1cm to the trimmed sheets. 3. Use binding glue to align your cardstock pages to the centre of the journal cover center made in step 1 ensuring they overlap one another 4. Ensure that all the pages fit in the cover and allow it to dry for 10 minutes to avoid page alteration while flapping them 5. Using the ruler, sub-divide your pages into sections then use the decorative pens to name the sections (eg. Days, week, month, goals, tasks to be done, priorities, lessons learn e.t.c) 6. Decorate each page to your desired taste and preference with the patterned papers 7. Spice up your journal with embellishments. For this sample journal, the theme was rustic.
Kraft Challenge
Tengeza Trail Campaign Pass on your unused craft supplies Every artist is guilty of buying too many supplies. Craft makers probably top that list because craft supplies come in different varieties, which doesn’t help our indecisive nature. We are never sure if the red or maroon buttons will work so we pick both, and end up using only two because the pack was sold in bulk. The result is an excess of unused or half-used supplies. We would like to challenge you to donate these excess supplies to Tengeza Trail, a campaign to make the arts accessible to deaf and hard of hearing emerging artists through provision of production materials. We are collecting craft supplies in good condition which will be donated to deaf institutions in Kenya when marking World Innovation and Creativity Day on April 21st. Since it is a trail, we invite you to adapt a habit of passing on any excesses from your art projects to underserved artists in your community wherever in the world you may be. We have developed a guide for the campaign which we would be happy to send you if you would like to join our trail. To donate supplies, partner or join the campaign email us at
