Project Site: The Parthenon, Acropolis of Athens

Tools Used: Midjourney, Photoshop

Inspired by the ancient education hub of the Acropolis, the project reinterprets the Parthenon temple, preserving its original form while dividing the space in half.

One side maintains the temple’s integrity, while the other provides a community space for education. By studying on-site, visitors organically explore ancient history while reinterpreting the Parthenon. This innovative approach allows for a dynamic interaction with the past, fostering a deeper understanding of ancient civilizations.

The project seamlessly blends historical preservation with modern educational initiatives, offering a unique opportunity for immersive learning and reinterpretation of cultural heritage.

The building was designed as a space to provide a place for multi-generational coexistence. The name of the building is called The Linkage. The word “link” means to connect, and when combined with “age”, it becomes Linkage. The philosophy of its design was to create an area to connect people from all walks of life, regardless of age or ability.

The courtyard and backyard space encourages and facilitates community interaction, but also includes private spaces for people who wish to be alone or desire some quiet. There are plenty of open, green space for families to gather and for children to play. The courtyard is at the center of the building, just like community is central to our design philosophy.

Residents on the upper floors will not feel so disconnected to the outside, as the exterior corridor looks out into the courtyard below. Exterior halls have glazing that can slide open, allowing it to be open to the outside, but be closed during inclement weather. This allows for more natural sunlight into units, reducing the need for excess artificial lighting.

With the busy lifestyle of modern city living, people are becoming more socially isolated. The goal was to create relationships that are difficult to create in the modern society, by encouraging community engagement and interaction between people of all ages. We designed this space to connect people through The Linkage.
