Discover what different designs, materials and finishes can do for your home.
The elements of style
Replacing doors or windows is an investment in your home… and it’s got to work for you
Get the look you want that’s right for your home and right for you
The choices available today go far beyond the functional.
Different materials, designs, colours and finishes widen the possibilities for adding to the appeal as well as the value of your home.
Performance in character
The latest in design and construction give a very contemporary look to modern styles of home, while new ranges complement heritage properties—offering higher performance but maintaining the visual character you love.
Stable Doors offer character whilst also offering additional functionality in many different styles.
Bay window designs can be replicated and enhanced with the maintenance free UPVC option.
Aluminium windows can also maintain the character of a property when adding decorative leaded designs.
Product specifications also invite you to tailor your choices with door and window handles, glazing, and security fittings.
Distinction is in the details
Different designs help you narrow down your choices but it’s in the many options within each range where greater scope for individual expression resides.
Gone are the days when the only available colour was no colour at all. Changes in use of materials and innovations in finishes combine to create designs that enhance tone or contrast with brick, stone, wood and render exteriors.

Don’t let’s forget these
things have a job to do
While for some the priority is in the visual appeal, there are other important aspects to consider.
For us, product quality is fundamental. We only supply windows and doors that meet the highest standards and will not compromise if it threatens the safety, security or the life of the product.
The energy and environmental performance have equal value and we have selected suppliers on the balance of their ability to demonstrate care in manufacture and care for the environment.
Authentic Georgian bars on Casement and Flush windows provide the perfect solution to match existing products.
Vertical sliding sash windows now offer all the design elements of their original timber parents.
Tilt-n-Turn windows are a great alternative to traditional opening out windows.
Double glazing is not even half the story
Once you’ve found the style, ask how well they will perform and how well they measure up
Material difference
sustainability is built in
Let’s get down to hard facts. Did you know around 90% of old window materials can be recycled? Or that a UPVC window can be recycled up to seven times without effect on its material performance? Or that of all the aluminium ever extruded (great word), around 75% is still in use?
Surprising isn’t it? Turns out there is such a thing as good plastic. UPVC is a largely sustainable material and an efficient one. Its flexibility in manufacturing, its
adaptability to many designs and its inherent strength combine to make it a good choice for your windows.
But maybe you prefer the look of aluminium? To all the advantages of plastic, aluminium adds extra strength that makes it possible to design more slender, lighter frames for windows and doors that soften the overall appearance of an installation. As always, it’s your choice that counts.
Windows with character
Frame work
more than mouldings
Older window designs were limited by the technology of the day and destined to be bulky and obtrusive. Thankfully, things have moved on.
Flush fitting casement windows look as fine and fair as timber. Heritage styles blend neatly into older properties and are often specified in conservation areas. And subtle features like deeper cills, concealed ventilation and fully sliding sash windows mean no compromise on design.
character not compromise
Clarity, comfort and conservation It’s all in the glass.
Technical performance is a clear advantage
A window’s energy performance is determined by more than the number of panes of glass in each unit. The composition of the glass, any coatings applied and its design and production all affect how well it will perform and how long it will last.
While triple glazing has advantages over standard double glazing it is not the only answer. Obviously, using 50% more glass has an environmental as well as a financial impact. We also offer Comfort Glass, whose manufacturer provides a coating which matches triple glazing for insulation, reduces outside noise compared to double glazing and is shatterproof.
EcoMAX makes more sense
Our standard glass fitment is EcoMAX, a high performing product that also has sustainability creds well above any other manufacturer.
It matches any A or A+ rated unit for insulation with a U-value of 1.2.* It is made with more recycled glass than any other UK window. Its sealants are organic and will safely decompose after the unit is recycled.
And even if you can’t see trees from your windows, it’s good to know that EcoMAX’s makers will plant a tree for every order placed.
The real measure of warmth
Window energy ratings
All our ranges are manufactured to the highest standards. They not only meet but far exceed all current regulations in the UK for window and door energy efficiency with Window Energy Ratings of up to A+ and U-values as low as 1.2 w/m2K.
Window Energy Ratings provide a simple ‘traffic light system’ measure of performance. This includes a combined measure of how good it is at three things:
• Keeping draughts out
• The warmth that it adds to a property through solar-gain
• How effective it is at stopping heat loss- it’s U-value
A similar scheme using different calculations also exists for doors.
Let’s get really technical
Window energy ratings compare draught prevention, solar gain, and heat loss. The last of those has an important measure you might have heard of called U-value.
U-value is an indication of the rate at which a component such as a wall, roof, or window transfers heat from inside to outside. It is measured in watts per meter squared-degrees kelvin (W/m2.K).
At its most simple, a window of a lower U-value indicates lower transfer of heat, so is a better insulator than one of a higher U-value. Naturally, it’s not so simple as that, as manufacturers typically determine U-values in lab conditions, not once installed on a windy coastline in Essex. It’s also worth bearing in mind that the method of sealing and the frame design have a significant impact on the result.
Part L1A of current UK building regulations states that a window installation in a new home should achieve a U-value no higher than 1.4 W/m²K. For reference, older double glazed units generally perform less well than that at around 3W/m2.K, while single glazed windows are normally as high as 5W/m2.K. Brrrrr!
Evolving doors
So many ways to make an entrance or an exit
Different doors: stylish alternatives are front and centre
Our doors are a relatively inexpensive way to smarten the appearance of your home, make it more secure, and improve its thermal performance.
Constructed in UPVC, aluminium, or a composite of both plus timber, they offer significant advantages over traditional all wood doors. They are fitted with secure, multipoint locking systems, they offer good thermal and noise insulation, and do not require refinishing.
A vast array of styles makes it easy to personalise your door with decorative glazing, panelling designs and colour or textured finishes and many different fittings. We offer patterns to suit period properties as well as the latest designs and styles to match your contemporary home.
French escapes — the civilised style that’s never way out
Double, or French doors offer simplicity as well as style. With a wider range of materials and options they are easier to match to your home’s existing features. They are also easier to operate and less complex to install.
Beyond the fold — dramatic doorways await
Innovation in folding door design created the disappearing wall. As if by magic (although really by some very sophisticated engineering) bi-fold doors concertina to one side or another blurring the boundary between inside and out.
On the slide — midcentury style that’s always in fashion
If your room calls for a wide glazed area then sliding doors often make a good and stylish alternative, especially when made in aluminium which offers strength with more slender profiles than can be achieved using UPVC.

Final fitting: adding a personal touch
Just think how many times a day you handle handles. Some are seamless others distinctive. It’s worth spending a bit of time on choosing window and door hardware, especially if you’re refitting several units at once. Choose from a range of different designs in metallic or flat finishes, but take your time. It’s got to look right and it’s also got to feel right.

Make it your own
Frames and fittings come in standard finishes from the manufacturers but there is plenty of scope for specifying alternatives to fit your existing interiors or a scheme you have in mind. On window frames and doors, smooth, flat colours complement most settings. But there are also textures, including surprisingly good wood effects that add a bit of depth and a touch of warmth.
Colour finishes can be applied to most frame and door types widening the choice of options still further. The range includes flat colours and foils offering textures and metallics that really stand out.
Metal keeps are standard in all our Windsor window frames.
Shot-bolts on all our Windsor windows provide a reassuring additional level of security.
Multi-point locking system with full frame keeps offer exceptional security to all our Windsor Range of doors.
A final thought, but a key one
No one likes to think about it, but break-ins do occur. So, what can you do to protect your home?
In the first place you can choose solidly built and well-fitted doors and windows. Opting for cheaper components is a compromise on security that makes little sense in the long run.
Secondly, be sure to specify locking systems for doors and windows that not only offer insurance industry recommended features but are made from good materials and assembled accurately to ensure a long life.
Choose from auto-locking doors, multi-point, deep throw anti-lift locks and shoot-bolt systems. It’s also worth knowing that all our doors contain industry recommended locks.
We have standards. They’re high.
Final fitting: adding a personal touch
It’s always worth checking the details when comparing suppliers for the quality of their products and associated fittings. We’ve spent a long time sourcing the best possible products from established suppliers who are proud of the quality of their designs and workmanship.
We only fit windows and doors that meet our high standards for quality and include fittings that we believe are essential in well made, efficient and pleasing products.
Pass the weight test
Composite front doors are all made with a solid timber core, rather than an inexpensive (and poor performing) foam infill that lacks security.
Overhead ventilation
Ventilation is a regulatory requirement but trickle vent canopies are an unsightly and cheap solution. Overhead ventilation meets the requirement and maintains the line.
Easy operation
Doors should stay shut when you shut them. We only fit doors where the locking mechanisms are secure, and easy to secure.
Carbon offset
We fit EcoMAX glass as standard to all windows, ensuring quality with sustainability.
Light touch and long lasting
Quality you can feel often means quality you can trust. And so it is with door handles and window locks—smooth operation is an indication that the gearbox is not stressed in use and will perform well throughout its life.
Deep cills
Cills might seem to be a small thing, but windows look better with thicker cills that replicate the appearance of traditional wooden or painted cills.
Let’s be clear
For windows to remain clear without misting it is essential that the glazing beads provide exceptional compression. Once again, quality materials and care in fitting are the essentials.
