Pack the Bus Distribution Day to be Memorial service set for woman who laid dead inside held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church her house for several years By Cindy Aguirre-Herrera
By Cindy AguirreHerrera (Seguin) -- A woman who was discovered dead inside her house and who had been there for the last three years will finally be laid to rest. A memorial service for Jacquelyn "Jackie" Thomas Crayton is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Emanuel's Lutheran Church. In July, Seguin Police officials say Crayton's skeletal remains were found after they were reportedly ignored on the floor of a bedroom at her home located in the 900 block of Anderson Street. They said investigation showed that the woman's daughter, De-
lissa Crayton, claimed that her mother had fallen and "died within a few days lying on the floor." The body was then left behind the closed bedroom door for three years. Delissa was later ar-
rested and also charged with injury to a child under the age of 15 through recklessly -- by omission -- causing to a child, serious mental deficiency, impairment or injury. This was after having her own daughter, Crayton's granddaughter, living at the home while the body decomposed in the next room. This weekend, the community will remember the retired Seguin ISD employee. Crayton will also be remembered for being a lovable and caring person who was always ready and willing to help others.
(Seguin) -- Crayons, pencils, notebooks and erasers will all be making their way into students' backpacks during Saturday's Pack the Bus Distribution Day. This year's school supply distribution for low income families will return to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. The event is organized each year by the Seguin and Geronimo Lions Clubs. For months, the groups have been
collecting school supplies for Seguin and Navarro ISD students enrolled in Pre-K through the sixth grades. A community collection drive was held just last week across the city.
Sanders-Campa says volunteers each year prepare 2,000 school supply bags for students. In addition to picking up school supplies, families will be provided other information to help them throughout the year. Sanders says local services and non-profits have again teamed together to participate in the annual Inter-Agency Health Fair to be held at the same time of distribution. See BUS Page 2
Low income families who need school supplies for their children must bring their SNAP card, Medicaid letter or a reduced lunch letter for admittance into the distribution drive. Pack the Bus Coordinator Suzanne

(Seguin) -- If you're looking to save a few extra dollars on your back-to-school shopping, then this weekend might be the best time to do so. Officials say Crayton This year's sales tax holiwas 71-year-old when day began at 12:01 a.m. Friday and goes through she died in 2016. midnight Sunday, Aug. 11.
During this annual sales tax holiday, you can buy most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks (sold for less than $100) tax free from a Texas store or from an online or catalog seller doing business in Texas. In most cases, you do not need to give the seller an exemption cer-
tificate to buy qualifying items tax free. The dates for the Sales Tax Holiday are set by the Texas Legislature. The exemption applies to each eligible item sold for less than $100, and there is no limit to the number of qualifying items you can buy.
For example, if you buy two shirts for $80 each, each shirt qualifies for the exemption because each is less than $100, even though the total purchase price is $160. The savings is said to equate to about $8 on every $100 they spend. See TAX Page 3
