City of Seguin cancels its modified KWED Holiday Food and Toy Holiday Stroll Parade in Max Starcke Park

Make plans now to give Drive set for this Friday

(Seguin) -- Although the year 2020 has been a challenge, Seguin Radio KWED is giving everyone the opportunity to take care of each other this holiday season. The radio station is set to host its annual Holiday Food and Toy Drive this Friday morning outside its studios at 609 E. Court St. The pandemic has left families and businesses in need

and the radio station wants to ensure donations for Seguin’s food pantry The Christian Cupboard and for the Seguin Police Department’s Blue Santa Program. Needs this holiday season are even higher as families impacted by the pandemic work to do the best that they can. “We know the reason for the season,” says Darren Dunn, general manager and partner for KWED radio. “We know that Seguin is a generous place. We also know that we can count on you to again offer support to Blue Santa and to the Christian Cupboard.” Dunn says rest assure that this year’s food and toy drive will be complete with social distancing and the wearing of masks by those in the streets collecting your donations. Loose change, dollars, checks, food and toys will also be accepted. See BLUE SANTA page 3

(Seguin) -- The city of Seguin has pulled the plug on what would have been its first Holiday Stroll Lighted Drive Thru Parade at Max Starcke Park. The drive thru experience was the city’s Plan B to hosting the traditional parade in downtown Seguin. The parade was set to take place this Thursday, Dec. 3. Jack Jones, the director of the Seguin Parks and Recreation Department, says the cancellation of the parade comes amidst an increase of COVID-19 cases in the area, as well as a sharp decline in the number of parade entries received.

“The timing of COVID, it has really impacted everybody and we are sad. We were looking forward to doing something. As parks and recreation folks, we want to have people come out and enjoy our parks and do special events and bring people “We just had only about 25 or so together.
