Now Open! ZDT's resurrects the fun for local families park, is the perfect location for everyone in the family.

By Cindy Aguirre-Herrera

(Seguin) -- It's playtime once again at Seguin's very own amusement park. ZDT's is looking forward to starting its second week of business following its nearly three month shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Owner Sarah Donhauser says not only is its wooden roller coaster back in action but so are its other attractions.

"We do have our water rides open and yes, it is getting hot out there so we encourage people to bring their bathing suits or they can wear their bathing suits under their clothes. A lot of people do that as well and the water rides are included with that wristband and you are welcome to go back and forth and try them out. Usually, before they come inside, they are not that wet anymore but if they are soaking wet, we might ask them to go back outside just for a little until they dry off a little bit and then come back in. They can go back and forth from the indoor to out and yes, we do still have our indoor with the AC to take a break from the heat as well," said Donhauser.

Donhauser says ZDT's is fortunate to be able to open without a reservation or other type of staggered start time for families. Many amusement and waterparks across the state and country are being forced to operate with a reservation system to maintain operation within its capacity limit. Donhauser says other than it's playground and rock climbing wall, families can enjoy the amenities across the park anytime they want.

Donhauser says like everyone else, it was very difficult for them to be closed. She says now, they are just grateful to be open and entertaining guests again.

"We have a capacity of 50 percent that we need to hold to but we have no concerns about hitting that capacity so there are no reservations required. We won't have any issue with that at all," said Donhauser.

"We are off to a slow start. I think people are still worried about going out and about but at least, we are open and taking a step in the right direction. So, that's good. As you can imagine, a lot of our summer camps have cancelled their trips because it's too hard to follow all of the guidelines that are in place and then those groups that are still coming have limited their number to a much much smaller number. So, we don't expect to have as many guests around the park right now as we normally would in the summer. So, if you are wanting to come out and you are worried about crowds, I don't think you'll have a whole lot to worry about right now so it's a goo time to come," said Donhauser.

Although fun is the name of the game, Donhauser says her staff has been fully trained to ensure that the experience remains a safe one for their guests. "We do have markers to guide with social distancing. We have increased hand sanitizing stations throughout the park. Employees are wearing masks. However, customers -- it's recommended of course but not required. So, it's up to the customer. On the rides, we are skipping seats and rows in order to distance people from other parties. Our touch surfaces are being disinfected very frequently. We have video game attendants at each of the arcades so that as people get off of games, they are immediately going over and sanitizing those games and of course the games are also spaced out and some are turned off to help with the social distancing," said Donhauser.

The family-owned and operated amusement park offers a number of thrill rides and attractions to include but not limited to the Switchback Roller Coaster, Parachute Drop, Thundervolt Speedway GoKarts, Mad Rad Water Coaster and the Splash Zone. The amusement park is located at 301 W. Kingsbury St.

Donhauser reminds families that ZDT's is also the best place to cool off this summer. She says the
