There's help available for those feelings, and it’s coming to you via the radio this Friday and Saturday.

By Cindy Aguirre-Herrera (Seguin) -- Seguin Mayor Don Keil is reminding folks to still "pray" it safe this Sunday. Keil says action by Governor Greg Abbot this week has essentially done away with a previous mandate in the city's emergency ordinance that restricted the gathering of congregations at local churches. In his address to the state, the governor declared church services as an "essential service' that may continue during the COVID-19 pandemic. Church, as a social gathering, was initially banned by the city. Instead, city officials encouraged more innovative and safe ways to worship. Some of those ideas were exercised these last couple of weekends. They included things such as live streaming or drive-in church gatherings.

Today, Keil says he reminds the local faith communities to continue to practice safe measures in whatever they choose. "The main difference that we have now that I got counter mandated by the state with the governor's new declaration was the fact that we no longer restrict gatherings within churches or houses of worship. That is a new order by the state and what I'm concerned about and I know that most churches will agree with me is that they are still going to have to practice those rules. That's just really not a good thing to pack a church with people sitting close together. We are greatly trying to encourage every church that we can to maintain no more than 10 people spaced out at any one gathering regardless of what it is," said Keil. See PRAY IT SAFE, page 3

County commissioners this week approved proclamations on a handful of community and national recognitions. The recognitions are observed each year during this same time of the year by the court. Proclamations approved include recognizing April 2020 as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month in Guadalupe County; April 2020 as National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month in Guadalupe County; April 7-13 as National Crime Victims' Rights Week in Guadalupe County and April 2020 as Autism Awareness Month and April 2, 2020 as Autism Awareness Day in Guadalupe County. The court also encouraged residents to hurry up and submit their 2020 census survey by recognizing this past Wednesday as Census Day. Despite the extension of the census deadline to August, the court still is encouraging families to fill out their questionnaire as soon as possible.

The sixth instalment in the series focuses on the Marion High School softball team. The Bulldogs, defending champions of District 26-3A, were 13-5-3 in Sammy Scribner's second season as head coach. It is with great sadness that the family of Alice Rahe Truelock announce her passing on Monday, March 30, 2020 at the age of 63. Alice will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 26 years, Shannon; children, Brandon Ellenberger and Colton Truelock; grandson, Collin Truelock; her faithful fur baby, Emmi; sisters, Marcy Ruby and husband Ronnie, and Gina Burns and husband David; uncle, David Vincent; sistersin-law, Debbie Vincent, A’Lann Truelock and D’Ann Thompson; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and other loving family members and many friends. (Undated) -- The number of coronavirus cases in the U.S. doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Over 164-thousand had been confirmed as of Monday night. The death toll also surpassed the three-thousand mark earlier in the day. New York and New Jersey account for roughly half of all cases in the country. California, Michigan and Massachusetts round out the top five for states with the most cases. The spread of COVID-19 has led President Trump to extend social distancing guidelines to the end of April.

During a White House briefing, President Trump said more than one-thousand will be delivered over the next couple days. The equipment is going to Michigan, New Jersey, Illinois, Louisiana and Connecticut. Trump noted over eight-thousand ventilators have already gone out. He also said millions and millions of other medical supplies have been distributed by FEMA and HHS.

Over 1 Million Americans Tested For COVID-19 (Washington, DC) -- The U.S. is hitting a new milestone in the fight against coronavirus. President Trump announced at the White House over one-million Americans have been tested. He argued no other country has come close to that many tests. Health Secretary Alex Azar noted nearly 100-thousands tests are now being done each day. The number of confirmed cases has continued to spike across the nation. There were over 159-thousand cases as of Monday afternoon.

Navy Hospital Ships Arrive in New York City, Los Angeles (New York, NY) -- The Navy hospital ship Mercy has already started boarding patients in the Port of Los Angeles and its sister ship Comfort is doing the same at Pier 90 in New York City. Both ships have one-thousand beds, operating rooms and military healthcareworkers. They'll treat non-COVID 19 patients in a bid to reduce the strain on hospitals. There are field hospitals in all five New YorkCity boroughs, including the Jacob Javits Convention Center, plus a tent hospitatal in Central Park erected by a Christian nonprofit group that will treat 68 COVID-19 patients.
