Ise Women Association is a profit charity organization of women married Ise men. The women Association is an integral part of the Owerri Nshi Ise Community Association New Jersey (OCA), which is comprised of the men and women of Owerri Nshi Ise community. The women association started with thepermissionofthemeninotherforthewomento reach out to themselves. By the culture of our people, married women of Igbo people always gather themselves to take care of matters concerning them and the welfare of their husbands and children and any matter affecting the community. The men also do same. This is what makesuswhoweare,ONYEIgbo.

Objectives: To reach out to the women and children of the Owerri Nshi Ise. When a man gives a woman chance, he will see her potentials. The pride of every man is to succeed. And behind every successful man is a woman. The Bible says that a man who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtainsfavoroftheLord.(Proverb18:22).
Also Proverb 31:26 29 the Bible says that a virtuous women “speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:Manywomendonoblethings,butyousurpassthemall.”

We are in a diverse society, most of our women are from different cultures and background, women are thought amongother thingsthe culture ofour people,they are meant torecite inevery meeting, the names of their husband, the kindred where they belong and are made aware some ofthe little normsorrituals they may be observingtheir husband perform when they aretogetherforexampleiwaOji,ibiOro,andthesignificanceofthesethingsintheculture.
• To join other Owerri Nshi Ise women both at home and in diaspora in reaching out to the poor, the widows and the less privileged by giving out scholarship to less privileged children who are willing to learn, giving out palliatives, reaching out to the older ones in thecommunity.Helpingourmeninrebuilding/repairingOwerricommunity

Owerri women in New Jersey have been idle for too long. They have been in hiding and for the men to have full assistance of their women in the community, there is need for the women to be on their own because there are many discussions or words that are meant for the women hearing only. The Bible obliges the older women to teach the younger women “Older women likewise are to be… teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored” (Titus 2:3 5)”

Ifa woman ismarried toan Owerri Nshi Ise man and has divorced him she isnolonger eligible to be in this association if she has no children but if she has children for him and wish to remain for her children, she is culturally acceptable to be part of the Owerri Nshi Ise women. Butifshere marries,sheisnolongereligibletobepartoftheassociation.
The Owerri Nshi Ise women association does not tolerate any misconducts. We meet to share and bear one another, respect one another, care for one another, bepatient with one another. fightingisofzerotolerance.Anyone whoindulges in fightingorquarrellingshall besuspended immediately. The women are thought to respect their husband and not to compete with them but rather complement them. A virtuous women respects herself in public. She focuses on developing“thehiddenpersonoftheheart,withtheimperishablequalityofagentleandquiet spirit,whichispreciousinthesightofGod”(1Peter3:4).
Any woman who is married to a man who has identified himself as Owerri Nshi Ise community association(OCA)member. Any widow of Owerri Nshi Ise man who is married till death do them part and has remained Ifunmarried.awoman is separated from the husband but has not divorced legally, she is still married to him,sheiseligibletobeamember.

The Owerri Ishi Ise women association is very active and productive. We are not only having meetings, but we also pray for our husbands and children, we have discussions on issues that will help our marriages, we are educating ourselves on things concerning our health and cooking.Our plans are toorganize symposiumsfor our children, toreachouttothe needy and asacharityorganization,ourprimarygoalistoreachouttothelessprivilegewomenandtheir children, and to encourage women education. We will educate our women on how to take good care of themselves and their families, how to make money and manage it. How to utilize the resources available for them. We will continue to share knowledge about things that are of benefittous,ourchildren,ourfamiliesandthecommunity.

The brief history of the Owerri people: The history of Owere is dated as far back as 14th century when it was stated according to some narrativesthat OHAAND ARUGO hiswife had children amongthem are PAPAEKWEM AND PAPA NDUM. History has it that when Ancestral Papa Oha died,his first son paEkwemdid nothaveenoughmoneytobuyacowascustomdemanded.Hisyoungerbrotherwhowasable to afford the cow bought it but in return he wanted to take the lion share that belonged to his elder brother Ekwem. Our ancestral father Ekwem was wiser than Esau in the bible whose younger brother tricked with a bowl of porridge yam to take his birthright. Ekwem will not sell his birth right even if he has no money but fight for his right. Ekwem was supported by his kinsmen, and he took what rightful belonged to him. He refused to be intimidated. No wonder theysaidOwerrihasnosmallchild,theyaresmarter. Like Jacob he ran for his dear life when he heard the plot by his brother Ndum to kill him but not without the knowledge of his mother Arugo and his sister who was married at Egbu. Ekwem took his wife, his children, and all his servants and ran to his sisters house at Egbu but His sister later advised him to continue his journey into the forest but not without food and drinks,shealsotoldhimtomakeasoundforhertoknowwheretheyare.NowonderanOwerri man does notjoke withhissister. Blood isthicker than water. His sisterwaspart ofhissuccess in settling at UGWU EKWEMA. She gave them yam which they roasted, and she came to see thematthehearingofthesoundfromthemtomakesuretheyareokay,whatacaringsister. That is why Ndom Owerri Nshi Ise New Jersey dimmed it right of inclusion to recognize our UMU NGBO OTO (daughters of Owerri) for their support. Ugwu Ekwema became the cultural center of celebration of Oru Owerri till date in remembrance of the first time papa Ekwem and hischildrenatetheirfirstmealafterrunningawayfromhisbrother. The word Owere denote taken, which was coined from OWERELLA IHE MARA YA AKA. Meaning HE HAS TAKEN WHAT RIGHTFULLY BELONG TO HIM. The migration of the British into the land changedthenamefromOWERETOTHENEWNAMEITBEARSTILLPRESENTOwerri. To the neighboring cities Owerri became the amiable city where there is light on the pole, the thick forest that house our ancestors became the land of DESTINY AND THE CAPITAL CITY OFIMOSTATE.THANKSTOOURANCESTOREKWEMOHAWHOFOUGHTFORHISRIGHT.
