A LET TER FROM LEARNING TURTLE

I need your help! Dear Class, Hello! It's me, Learning Turtle. I have been out exploring the trail, and I found some mysteries that I just can't solve by myself. I need a class of super helpers, and I just know that's you all here! Over the next few weeks, we are going on three adventures together. M AT H · S TA R T S TO D AY

The Mystery Number Mission

The Reading Trail

The Story Rescue

Our first adventure starts today! Are you ready? While I was walking on the trail, I found a number. I don't know what it is, but I do have two clues. Here they are. Clue one: I am a number that comes after 5 but before 10. Clue two: If you flip me upside down, I look exactly the same. Hmm. What could it be? Here's the tricky part. Don't just tell me the answer. I want to know how you figured it out so I can learn from you too! You can build it with blocks, draw it, or write it down. When you're done, snap a picture of your work. Then use the voice tool to tell me what you know and how you know it. Last, post it to Seesaw so I can see it. I'll be watching for your work, and I can't wait to cheer you on! I sent your class two guides for your teacher to hang up in your classroom to remind you of your challenge and show you how to capture your work in Seesaw. I also made you a super special video that your teacher can play for you! Thank you for being my helpers. I can't wait to learn from you! Your friend,

Capture the learning

One device, one pass around the room. The same five steps, done by you on behalf of the class.

1

Open Seesaw

2

Add

3

Capture

4

Add voice or video

5

Post to the journal

Sign in on the shared device and open your class before the activity starts, so capture never interrupts the learning.

Start a post. Tag the students whose work is in the frame — one post can be assigned to several journals at once.

+

Photograph the work—models, drawings, and answers. Capture the work from directly above to show the most context.

Hold the device toward the student and let them explain their thinking and their process. Their voice is the evidence!

Post as you go rather than saving a batch for later. Families see it the same day, which is when it means the most.

O P T I O N S F O R I F YO U H AV E O N E D E V I C E

Rotate a station. Four or five students capture per day. The whole class is documented by the end of the week.

Make one class post. Photograph several pieces of work in a row and post them as one gallery + tag students.

Let a student drive. A capture helper passes the device and presses record. It is a real classroom job.
