Seeds of Peace
Presentation Guidelines and Advice There is no “one size fits all” model for presentation making. The format should be based on your and the audience’s interest in the organization, time constraints, and purpose (i.e. fundraising, awareness building, both). There are general guidelines, however, that can help you prepare for and structure your presentation. Included below are the following: Sample Presentation Outline Guiding Thoughts Additional Materials Seeds of Peace Can Provide Video Descriptions Past Experiences: Challenges, Successes and Lessons Learned Sample Presentation Outline: The following outline should be effective for multiple purposes, audiences, and time constraints: Short intro of yourself and Seeds of Peace. Brief outline of the presentation and when to ask questions (during or afterwards). Show one of the three five minute videos included on the DVD. Q & A Session. Opportunity for participants to make a gift to Seeds of Peace, sign up to receive more information/e-newsletter, and discuss further opportunities with New York staff. Guiding Thoughts: Be creative! Be personal. Talking about why you are passionate about Seeds of Peace is much more engaging than talking about its history. This is not a presentation on politics so stay away from political discussions. Remember that your audience has a time limit so make sure you get out all that you want to present within the timeframe you have allocated. Your presentation should be natural - it’s more exciting for the audience if you really mean what you are saying. So forget about scripts! Know your material and speak clearly, slowly and confidently! In the Q&A session, if you are faced with difficult questions, or questions that make you uncomfortable, feel free to let the person know that you would rather discuss it one-on-one, or direct his/her question to Seeds staff members. Do not speculate, provide your opinion, or try to answer if you don’t have the facts as this could prove damaging to Seeds of Peace. At the end of your presentation, mention our website and contact information for the New York office – www.seedsofpeace.org / info@seedsofpeace.org / 212/573-8040. 1
