2017 Supporters

This year, over 1,500 people around the world participated in our dialoguerooted, action-oriented programs.

In Jerusalem, Kids4Peace convened 50 Jewish, Christian, and Muslim youth from across the city for a series of 12 interfaith dialogue and leadership development sessions.

More than 130 young leaders from across the United States attended two sessions of the Seeds of Peace Camp during the summer. The program offered them the unique opportunity to live side by side and hone their leadership skills. In daily dialogue sessions, the campers delved into the root issues behind an increasingly divided country, discussing topics such as race, religion, and political identity. Campers also gained skills to identify and address issues in their schools and communities through Community Action workshops.

The youngest generation of Israeli and Palestinian Seeds met in Cyprus for a weeklong dialogue intensive. Twice-daily dialogue sessions and team building activities deepened their understanding of one another, of conflict, and of their responsibility—and ability—to change its course. In post-program surveys, 71% of the 37 participants said that they felt more inspired to work for change.

The Global Institute advocacy and policy intensive brought 42 young alumni of Seeds of Peace from around the world to Washington, DC, where they met with high-level diplomats, policymakers, and political leaders to explore global issues and advocate for solutions

that advance justice and inclusion. After two weeks of lobbying on Capitol Hill and engaging with think tanks and dignitaries, participants spoke with hope and confidence about their ability to advocate for change in their own countries.

We reimagined and expanded GATHER, Seeds of Peace’s programmatic home for adult alumni, to be a collective offering community, connections, and critical resources.

GATHER began building a network of Hubs that engage people locally in dialogue and collective action on the issues causing divides within and between their societies. In 2022, GATHER launched six Hubs across the Middle East and South Asia, reaching over 470 people, and convened 43 organizers, activists, and innovators in Marrakech, Morocco, for a five-day summit to deepen and expand the collective impact of movement leaders.

GATHER also launched two fellowship programs in 2022: the Israeli and Palestinian Organizers Fellowship for 17 community leaders and the Artivism Fellowship for 16 artists and activists, which kicked off in Wadi Rum, Jordan.
