Inspired by a salamander
2017
Our patented Cardprotector salamander mechanism prevents jams. If overloaded, it ejects two cards and then self-resets, like a salamander shedding its tail and subsequently regrowing it.
The evolution of felt

Cards stay secure in the Cardprotector with brake pads. We innovate with a durable alternative to felt, replacing wool for reliable security.

Curved or damaged cards can clog the Cardprotector. Our patented 'Flexarm' solves this by adding flexibility to a specific part of the arm, so it can smoothly adapt to the contour of curved cards.

There’s an old saying: the only constant is change. This feels truer than ever when we look at the world today. Fortunately, some things remain reliable—like our partnership and a new Secrid collection, twice a year.
To start, we unveil a strong extension of our Feminine collections, featuring fresh colourways for the Pebble, such as Grape and Latte. The new Leo Grey offers a standout pattern in a more subdued palette. Our feminine audience will also find new colours in the Crunch and Crisple collections.

THE CARDPROTECTOR FIVE EVOLUTIONS
The Cardprotector has been the core of our collection since 2009, and its evolution continues.
THE ORIGINAL CARDPROTECTOR
In 2009, we were the first to introduce a high-quality, sustainably made cardholder with a patented slide-mechanism. It remains the original Cardprotector to this day.

With our powdercoat technique, we utilise slightly damaged aluminium to create a beautiful and scratchresistant surface. The result: we upcycle potential waste into unique and vividly coloured Cardprotectors.
The Cardprotector Hammerstone Collection is powdercoated to create a special tactile surface inspired by the finishes of mechanical tools and machinery. Like the Cardprotector Powdercoat, the Hammerstone provides a way of reducing our waste streams.

We actively research leather alternatives, focusing on materials that are recyclable or biodegradable, support circular economy principles, and maintain long-term durability.
In addition to leather alternatives, we continuously explore all the materials used in our products within the framework of our Material Lab: a collaboration of Secrid colleagues from several departments. This collaboration enables us to physically test potential materials while also facilitating discussions on various material aspects.
This broad scope can lead to difficult choices and even unexpected dilemmas, for example during our research on virgin plastic versus recycled plastic.

All our wallets are covered by a warranty. Core collection wallets have a standard two-year warranty, which extends to three years upon registration at register. secrid.com. Premium+ wallets offer a five-year warranty, extended to seven years with registration.
Each Secrid product features a unique serial number engraved inside the Cardprotector. After registering the wallet at register.secrid. com, owners gain access to the My Secrid environment, where they can find practical information and a proof of authenticity.

Bank, travel, and ID cards are equipped with RFID (radio-frequency identification) chips and antennas to enable wireless communication. Since 2009, all our Cardprotectors have featured RFID protection, shielding cards from unwanted scanning and skimming.
Inside the Cardprotector, wireless communication is completely blocked and your cards are fully protected. When you pop out your cards by pulling the lever, you can still use them safely at pay terminals or barcode scanners.

CARE & REPAIR SET
Naturally, even products of the highest quality can break sometimes. And, if this happens, we think it’s beneficial to consider repairing, instead of replacing.
Being able to repair means that a customer does not have to part ways with his or her valued wallet. Rather, the pocketwear becomes even more personal along the way. Moreover, no money is spent on a replacement. This also means a reduction in the need for new wallets. Consequently, the repaired wallet is given a second life and the need to replace is reduced which saves energy and resources involved in producing a new wallet.
As a retailer, you can service our Secrid customers and the planet by becoming a Care & Repair Point. You’ll receive a repair set and training to perform repairs on our Cardprotectors and wallets.

CARDPROTECTOR RESET
With the Salamander lever
Storing more than 6 cards or cards that are wider than a standard credit card may make them get stuck in the Cardprotector. If your customer has a Secrid wallet with the Salamander lever, please follow these steps.
Use extra force on the lever until a loud click is heard and a few cards are pushed out. Remove them from the Cardprotector and press the Salamander lever back into position until another click is heard. Now all cards can be removed and the Cardprotector’s mechanism is still intact.
You can recognise the Salamander lever on the base of the Cardprotector – it has two small plastic arms to the right of the lever. Also, there is no seam in the middle of it.

THE CARDPROTECTOR+
This pocket-sized evolution responds to the growing popularity of metal cards. These cards are strong and aesthetic but weigh more than regular plastic cards. Therefore, we designed a solution that can securely also hold metal cards in your card-stack: this is the new autolock-mechanism and it is built into every new Cardprotector+, including our Premium+ wallets.
NEW AUTOLOCK MECHANISM
INSIDE THE CARDPROTECTOR+
Newly designed springs with dimple and miniature curl detailing, automatically lock cards into place, when you push them into the Cardprotector+. This patented mechanism doubles the grip and ensures that all cards -even heavier, metal cards- are securely held in place. With high-tech fibre-pads sealed onto the springs, there's less abrasion and we warrant an even longer lifespan than before.

NEW INDUSTRY STANDARDS
During three years of testing, we’ve covered all aspects of the Cardprotector+. Here are a few highlights. Firstly, we examined every single component. For example, the geometry of every part was scanned and assessed to the hundredth of a millimetre to ensure it meets all specifications.
After that, we tested the assembled product to ensure it operates smoothly and keeps working in all conditions. We conducted an intensive durability-test in which the mechanism was used to eject cards thousands of times,
using damaged cards to try to cause even more wear. All of this in temperatures ranging from -20 0 C to +50 0 C , to ensure the product can withstand all climates. We even deliberately misused the product by performing various drop-tests onto a concrete surface.
Performing such extensive tests inhouse - a lot of them with custom built machines - resulted in the highest achievable quality for the customer. At the same time, we hopefully inspire the industry with new standards for product longevity.

Testing and developing
Testing is a crucial part of our product development process. It determines the progress, design choices and success of the product's evolution. As the Cardprotector+ has been improved in virtually every component and detail, we tested extensively during development.
