* Call to Worship Zachary A. Rivers
One: When we pass through the waters,
All: God will be with us.
One: When we pass through the rivers,
All: They will not overwhelm us.
One: When we walk through the fire,
All: We will not be burned;
One: For the Lord our God is with us,
All: We are precious and honored in God’s sight.
* Prayer of Adoration
* Opening Hymn #361 How Firm a Foundation FOUNDATION
Invitation to Confession
Prayer of Confession
Gracious God, You have formed us, called us by name, and declared that we are yours. Yet, we confess that we have lived in fear rather than trusting in your presence. When passing through the waters of trial, we have doubted your promise, and when walking through the fires of adversity, we have felt consumed. We have forgotten that we are precious and honored in your sight, seeking value in the world rather than in your love.
Forgive us for our unbelief and for the times we have tried to save ourselves instead of trusting in you. (Silent Prayer)
Assurance of God’s Grace

Children’s Anthem
I’ve Got Peace Like a River Traditional VBS Children; Ren Archbold, VBS Music Leader; Patrick Pauloski, piano
I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got peace like a river in my soul.
I’ve got love like an ocean, I’ve got love like an ocean, I’ve got love like an ocean in my soul.
I’ve got joy like a fountain, I’ve got joy like a fountain, I’ve got joy like a fountain in my soul.

First Scripture Lesson Isaiah 43:1-4 (p. 658)
Second Scripture Lesson
1 The Lord is King, and hath put on glorious apparel; the LORD hath put on his apparel, and girded himself with strength.
2 He hath made the round world so sure, that it cannot be moved.
(p. 538) Anglican chant setting by David Purcell
3 Ever since the world began, hath thy seat been prepared: thou art from everlasting.
4 The floods are risen, O LORD, the floods have lift up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.
5 The waves of the sea are mighty, and rage horribly; but yet the LORD, who dwelleth on high, is mightier.
6 Thy testimonies, O LORD, are very sure: holiness becometh thine house for ever.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Into the Waters
“Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea—the Lord on high is mighty.”
(Psalm 93:4)

* Affirmation of Faith
We Give Thanks to God
Rev. Dr. Thomas P. Markey from Song of Faith, United Church of Canada
We sing of God the Spirit, who from the beginning has swept over the face of creation, animating all energy and matter and moving in the human heart. We sing of God the Spirit, faithful and untameable, who is creatively and redemptively active in the world. The Spirit challenges us to celebrate the holy not only in what is familiar, but also in that which seems foreign. We sing of God the Spirit, who speaks our prayers of deepest longing and enfolds our concerns and confessions, transforming us and the world. Amen.
Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
