Call to Worship

One: O Lord, open to us the gates of righteousness so that we may enter them.

All: We will sing praises to you, for you hear our prayer, and you have become our salvation.

One: Give thanks to God, for God alone is good.

All: Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Holy God. Hosanna in the highest.

One: Let us worship God!

Kyrie eleison.

Christe eleison.

Kyrie eleison.

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

Prayer of Confession

Lord Jesus,

We confess that we, like the crowds, sometimes greet you with praise on Sunday, but fail to follow you in faithful obedience through the week. We wave our palms in worship, yet our hearts often turn to other things.

Forgive us for our wavering loyalty.

Help us to not only praise you with our lips, but to follow you with our lives.

In your name we pray. (Silent Prayer)

Ride On, King Jesus Spiritual arr. Alice Parker (1925-2023) Robert Shaw (1927-1978)

Ride on, King Jesus, No man can hinder me. I was but young when I begun, But now my race is almost done,

Ride on, King Jesus, No man can hinder me. Jesus rides on a milk-white horse, The river of Jordan He did cross.

Ride on, King Jesus, No man can hinder me. If you want to find your way to God, The gospel way must be trod,

Ride on, King Jesus, No man can hinder me.

Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer Rev. Audrey F. Thorne

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

I heard the voice of Jesus ay, “I am this dark world’s Light; look unto Me; thy morn shall rise, and all thy days be bright.” I looked to Jesus, and I found in Him my Star, my Sun; and in that light of life I’ll walk till trav-’ling days are done.
