* Call to Worship

One: God’s light rises among us, calling us to gather in its glow.

All: Light breaks forth like dawn, drawing us together.

One: Come in humility and be strengthened to serve.

All: God calls us to trust and to act with compassion.

One: Not with lofty words, but with lives that shine.

Rev. Madison M. VanVeelen

All: By grace, we are the salt of the earth, the light of the world.

One: Let us worship God.

Invitation to Confession

Prayer of Confession

God of Light, we confess that we have wandered from your ways. We chase the dim lights of success, rules, and self-glory, and forget the true light of your love for all. Forgive us for turning from Jesus, who calls us to love one another. Make us bearers of your light— shining with compassion, justice, and grace. In Jesus’ name we pray. (Silent Prayer)

Assurance of God’s Grace

First Scripture Lesson

Matthew 5:13-16 (p. 880)

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine. Almighty God is light. He lives in us as True Light.

In the beginning out of the darkness God created True Light. Almighty God is light. He lives in us as True Light.

Don’t let the light that You’ve given me die, And don’t desert my mind. But let the one who serves You Praise You again and again. He lives in us as True Light.

In the beginning out of the darkness God created True Light. Almighty God is light. He lives in us as True Light.

You are the one who judges right from wrong. Your glory excites no envy. But let the one who serves You Praise You again and again. He lives in us as True Light.

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine. Everywhere I go, I want the world to know. God gave the world True Light!
