* Call to Worship Rev. Danny L. Carpenter

One: Our Triune God who created all things is with us.

All: God the Father, speaks to us.

One: God the Son, the Word incarnate, intercedes for us.

All: God the Spirit, the breath of God is in us and among us.

One: Gathered by God from near and far, as one people,

All: we lift our voice to our Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer.

* Prayer of Adoration

* Opening Hymn #139 Come, Thou Almighty King

Invitation to Confession

Prayer of Confession

Triune God, we praise you as the God of love and life. Though Jesus prayed that we would be one, we confess that we fail to live in unity with each other and with you. We break our communion through hostile words and unkind actions. We long for your Spirit to heal us and to correct us. We long for you to help us experience communion with you and with each other as we gather around your Word. Even now, dependent on your grace, we commit ourselves to live more fully in the unity you desire. Through Christ, our Lord. (Silent Prayer)

Invitation to the Lord’s Table

Great Prayer of Thanksgiving

One: The Lord be with you.

All: And also with you.

One: Lift up your hearts.

All: We lift them to the Lord.

One: Let us give thanks to the Lord.

All: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Sanctus Holy, Holy, Holy (from Deutsche Messe) Franz Schubert (1797-1828)

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Breaking of the Bread

Communion of the People

Ushers will extend an invitation to receive communion by pew. Please come forward using the aisle to your right. All bread at all stations is gluten free.

O quam suavis est Joseph Jongen Caleb Crawford, countertenor (1873-1953)

Prayer after the Meal

Invitation to Discipleship and Generosity

O how sweet, Lord, is thy spirit, who, to show thy tenderness to thy children, feedest them with thy sweetest bread from heaven, feeding the hungry with good things, and sending the disdainful rich away empty.

Offertory Give Me Jesus Spiritual arr. Moses Hogan (1957-2003)

In the mornin’ when I rise, give me Jesus.

Give me Jesus, you may have all this world, give me Jesus.

Dark midnight was my cry, give me Jesus. Give me Jesus, you may have all of this world, give me Jesus.

Oh, when I come to die, give me Jesus. Give me Jesus, nobody but Jesus, you may have all of this world, give me Jesus.
