GUEST MUSICIANS
Our music in worship is offered by the local Latin Jazz and Salsa Band, Pavel & Direct Contact. Jazz, a uniquely American genre, is founded on the musical traditions of West Africa and Europe. Early jazz also incorporated church hymns, slave songs, and field chants. Led by internationally-known Dominican pianist and Chicago Music Awards Nominee, Pavel Polanco-Safadit, Direct Contact infuses the art form with Latin rhythms, vibrant horns, and bilingual vocals. Most Sunday mornings, Direct Contact plays at Indianapolis’ Tabernacle Presbyterian Church.

Come Jesus Come
Rev. Karen L. Lang Psalm 19:1-4
One: The heavens declare the glory of God!
All: The skies proclaim God’s handiwork.
One: The day pronounces God’s glory without a sound,
All: the night expounds God’s knowledge without a word,
One: and yet their voice goes out through all the earth.
All: Let us join our voices with the voice of creation in declaring God’s glory!

Invitation to Confession
Prayer of Confession
Lord God, only you are holy. Yet we imagine that we are righteous, excusing our own faults while pointing out those of others. We are quick to lay burdens upon our neighbors but slow to help with their own. We take credit and give blame. w In spite of the grace you have shown to us, we are slow to show mercy. Forgive us, O God, and wash us clean, that we may serve you with joy and thanksgiving. Amen. (Silent Prayer)

We Give Thanks to God
Rev. Gracie H. Payne A Brief Statement of Faith
We trust in God the Holy Spirit everywhere the giver and renewer of life.
The Spirit justifies us by grace through faith, sets us free to accept ourselves and to love God and neighbor, and binds us together with all believers in the one body of Christ, the Church.
The same Spirit who inspired the prophets and apostles rules our faith and life in Christ through Scripture, engages us through the Word proclaimed, claims us in the waters of baptism, feeds us with the bread of life and the cup of salvation, and calls women and men to all ministries of the Church. In a broken and fearful world, the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior, to unmask idolatries in Church and culture, to hear the voices of peoples long silenced, and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace. Amen.
Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
