Come Now, O Prince of Peace O-SO-SO (Korean) Sanctuary Choir; Dr. Michelle Louer, conductor

Come now, O Prince of Peace; make us one body. Come, O Lord Jesus; reconcile all people.

Come now, O God of love; make us one body. Come, O Lord Jesus; reconcile all people.

Come, hope of unity, make us one body. Come, O Lord Jesus; reconcile all people.

* Call to Worship Rev. Audrey F. Thorne

One: The God who brought forth creation, brought each of us here

All: To this day of resurrection where we come seeking re-creation,

One: Where we remember the miraculous power of Christ,

All: And where we ask the Spirit to raise our weary souls again.

One: This is the day of resurrection,

All: Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Invitation to Confession

Prayer of Confession

God of grace and mercy, there have been times when we’ve felt scattered about, disjointed, dried up, all our energy gone. There have been times when we’ve been out of joint with your Spirit. Not trusting in your forgiveness or your power, we trust only in ourselves, and our lives become dry and brittle. Fill us with your Spirit, O God, that we may be transformed. May what was dead, scattered, and disjointed become alive that we may be one body in Christ, equipped to be your people in the world. (Silent Prayer)

Assurance of God’s Grace

Second Scripture Lesson Deuteronomy 8:2-4, 11-17 (p. 164)

Sermon Rev. Christopher A. Henry

Where We’ve Been

“Remember the long way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, in order to humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commandments.”

(Deuteronomy 8:2)

Moment of Silent Meditation

We Give Thanks to God

* Affirmation of Faith Rev. Danny L. Carpenter

In faith, we acknowledge that God has acted in the past, in a holy history. In faith, we confess that God seeks to rule our lives today. In faith, we affirm that God continues to send prophets and speaks through willing vessels to guide the course of all history toward its end. In faith, we imagine that end to be characterized by the traits we find in Jesus Christ: compassion, justice, and love. In faith, we long to be part of that purpose. Amen.

Text: James T. Fatzinger

Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
