Choral Call to Worship
Prayer for Transfiguration Day John Weaver Sanctuary Choir; Dr. Michelle Louer, conductor (1937-2021)
O Lord God, in the glorious transfiguration of Christ, your Son, you have confirmed the mystery of the faith by the testimony of the apostles. In the voice that came from the bright cloud you proclaimed him to be your Son, and told us to heed his teachings.
O God, make us heirs with Christ, in his glory forevermore. Alleluia, Amen.
Text: adapted by the composer from a traditional collect
* Call to Worship Rev. Madison M. VanVeelen
One: Now is the moment of grace. This is the hour of blessing.
All: Today is the day of salvation. Here is the path to new life.
One: Already hope is abounding, and love is flowing.
All: For this is the day God is making. Let us rejoice and sing.
One: Let us gather before God in worship.
* Prayer of Adoration
* Processional Hymn #470 O Day of Radiant Gladness
Prayer of Confession
Loving God, you know our weaknesses.
Fearful of the future, we forget what you have done for us in the past. We see scarcity where you supply abundance. We complain when conditions challenge us. We begrudge others their success, allow envy to divide us, and live lives unworthy of the gospel.
Generous God, forgive us.
Help us to remember your wonderful works, trust your gracious provisions, seek out your presence, and strive to serve you well.
Give us eyes to see your love at work in the world. By the power of your Holy Spirit, renew our minds, cleanse our spirits, and empower us to serve you faithfully and trust you fully. (Silent Prayer)

* Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
Rev. David T. Kim

Offertory Transfiguration
Mark Schweizer Caleb Crawford, countertenor (1956-2019)
After six days, Jesus led Peter, James, and John high upon a mountain top and was transfigured before them, and his clothes became dazzling white, and there appeared with him Elijah and Moses.
Then came a cloud, overshadowing them, and there came a voice, “This is my beloved Son, O listen.”
