* Call to Worship
One: Worship can always hold your story:
Rev. Madison M. VanVeelen
All: We bring our joy, our sorrow, our heartbreak, and our hope.
One: Worship always proclaims a new story:
All: God is always with us, so we are never alone. We are called by name and claimed by love. The hungry will be fed, the grieving will be comforted, the sick will be healed.
One: With trust and anticipation, with imagination and expectation:
All: Let us worship God.
* Prayer of Adoration
* Processional Hymn #430
Come Sing, O Church, in Joy!
Invitation to Confession
Prayer of Confession
Almighty God, you love us, but we have not loved you; you call, but we have not listened. We walk away from neighbors in need, wrapped up in our own concerns. We have gone along with evil, with pride, quarrelling, and divisiveness. Holy God, help us to face up to ourselves, so that, as you move toward us in mercy, we may repent, turn to you, and receive mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Silent Prayer)

Anthem
Nearer, My God, To Thee
Sanctuary Choir; Dr. Michelle Louer, conductor arr.
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee. E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me; Still all my song shall be: nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee.
Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down, Darkness be over me, my rest is found; Yet in my dreams I’d be nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee.
There let the way appear steps unto heav’n; All that Thou sendest me in mercy giv’n; Angels to beckon me nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!

We Give Thanks to God
* Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed Rev. Hannah G. Ostlund
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
Invitation to Discipleship and Generosity
Offertory Wayfaring Stranger John Jacob Niles
Michael Christopher, tenor (1892-1980)
I am a poor wayfaring stranger, while journ’ying through this world of woe, Yet there’s no sickness, toil, nor danger in that fair land to which I go. I’m going there to see my mother; I’m going there, no more to roam; I’m only going over Jordan, I’m only going over home.
I know dark clouds will gather o’er me, I know my way is rough and steep; Yet beauteous fields lie just before me, where God’s redeemed their vigils keep. I’m goin’ there to see my Father, He said He’d meet me when I come. I’m only going over Jordan, I’m only going over home.
I want to wear a crown of glory when I get home to that good land, I want to shout Salvation’s story in concert with the blood-washed Band. I’m going there to meet my Saviour, to sing His praise forevermore, I’m only going over Jordan, I’m only going over home.
