CHORAL CALL TO WORSHIP
HYMN NO. 340 All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name DIADEM
WELCOME & INVOCATION Rev. Jonathan Hall
SCRIPTURE Psalm 23 Rev. Allie Osborne
All: The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His Name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
HYMN NO. 65 T he Lord’s My Shepherd, I’ll Not Want CRIMOND
ANTHEM Upon This Rock Beck Sanctuary Choir; SPdL Orchestra; Anneliese Depenthal, conductor
You are invited to stand and sing with us when directed, with these words.
The Church's one foundation is Jesus Christ, Her Lord; She is His new creation, by water and the Word. From heav'n He came and sought Her to be His Holy Bride; With His own blood He bought Her, and for Her life He died.
Yet She on earth hath union with God the Three in One, And mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won; O happy ones and holy! Lord give us grace that we, Like them, the meek and lowly, on high may dwell with Thee.

WE'RE "PEOPLE PEOPLE"
FOR GUESTS WE HAVEN'T MET YET
Welcome to church! Make yourself at home here! Settle in for a transformative and joyful hour of worship. We'd love to be helpful in your faith journey. There's a green card in the pew rack—I'm New Here. Use it to share as much information as you like and drop it in the offering plate. We understand that some people are hesitant to fill out church cards. It's true—a member of our pastoral staff will reach out, but you won't be flooded with calls, emails or requests. Engagement with us will be at your own pace; we just want to know who you are and how we can pray for you.
FOR GUESTS WE KNOW & CHURCH MEMBERS
Welcome back to church! Your presence is part of what makes Sundays at Second-Ponce so wonderful. If you're a guest who's ready to take the next step or a church member who wants to deepen your involvement, fill out the red pew card—I'm a Regular—and drop it in the offering plate. Let us know how we can help.

PASTORAL PRAYER
Rev. John Uldrick
SCRIPTURE Acts 4:5–12 Laurie Entrekin (p. 887 in your pew Bible)
LEADING OUR OFFERTORY PRAYER
George Sapp, a Life Deacon, has been an active member of Second-Ponce since 1966. He currently serves as director of the Adult III Sunday School class after having worked with children, youth and other adult Sunday School classes in the past. George is retired from the insurance business, and enjoys playing golf and viewing antique cars. He and his wife of over 60 years, Betty Jo, have two daughters and four grandchildren.
EVERYONE IS AN "INSIDER" AT SPDL
We're pulling back the curtain on some experiences and words you'll encounter today.
• Church in Conference: Once per quarter (January, April, July and October), our church family gathers after worship for a casual lunch and conversation around important church business like budget information and ministry updates.
• Doxology: The Doxology is a short hymn of praise. We use it as transition music when children leave the Sanctuary for Kids Worship.
• FriYAY: Often, our Kids' Club meets on a Friday evening to have fun as a group and give parents a night out. We call it FriYAY because everyone is excited to participate!
• Invocation: The first prayer of the service invoking the spirit of God to be with us as we worship.
• SPdL: An abbreviation for Second-Ponce de Leon. We pronounce it "Spee-duhl."
THANK YOU, GLENN AMBROSE
It's bittersweet to announce the retirement of our church caterer Glenn Ambrose. After decades of feeding our SPdL family, he is hanging up his apron to enjoy a life of travel and relaxation. In fact, he's already planned his first trip—a Pacific Northwest adventure. His last Fellowship Supper is Wednesday, May 8, where he'll serve his famous fried chicken one more time; don't miss it! To show our gratitude for his years of service, we're honoring Glenn after worship today during Church in Conference.
• SPdLU: An acronym for Second-Ponce de Leon University, our Wednesday evening time of adult discipleship.
• Vacation Bible School: Also known as "VBS," this fun-filled week for kids is packed with music, games, crafts, Bible stories, snacks and more! Held in the summer during typical "vacation" months, VBS is one of the happiest weeks of the year!
CHILDCARE DURING WORSHIP
We love to see children at Second-Ponce, and we have a Kids’ Club area just for them! It's one floor up from the Sanctuary, and our greeters will be happy to show you the way. In the Kids' Club, there’s a nursery and Kids Worship for babies–5th grade. You may take your children to the Kids' Club before the service or, if you prefer, they can stay with you in the Sanctuary for the entire hour or until the Doxology (when kids leave with children's ministry leaders). After worship, pick them up in the Kids’ Club.
HOW TO JOIN
Second-Ponce enthusiastically welcomes you to make a commitment to Christ and our community of faith. At any time during the Hymn of Response, simply walk to the front of the Sanctuary where a member of our ministry team will greet you with warmth and joy. If you're uncomfortable being "in the spotlight," but still want to join–that's ok! Speak with one of our ministers after worship and they'll walk you through an alternate plan.

TODAY'S MESSAGE
Passive Verbs and Active Spirit Acts 4:5–12
Dr. Dock Hollingsworth Senior Pastor
As the Church struggles in a Post-Christian, Post-Covid world, it is tempting to try to bring life through our own cleverness and activity— Work harder for better results This sermon intends to remind us that healing and revival happens in the power of Jesus. We are passive; it is Jesus Who heals.
