CHORAL CALL TO WORSHIP

WELCOME Rev. Jonathan Hall

INVITATION TO WORSHIP Rev. Hall

HYMN NO. 45 The God of Abraham Praise LEONI

CONFESSION OF SIN/ASSURANCE OF PARDON Bill Gabbard

All: Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment.

Set us free from a past that we cannot change; open to us a future in which we can be changed; and grant us grace to grow more and more in Your likeness and image; through Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Amen.

Leader: Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Happy are those to whom the Lord imputes no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

All: Thanks be to God. Amen!

GREEN GUEST CARD: FOR FIRST TIMERS

Use it to share as much information as you like and drop it in the offering plate. We understand that some people are hesitant to fill out church cards. It's true—a member of our pastoral staff will reach out, but you won't be flooded with communication. Engagement with us will be at your own pace.

Peace on Earth

Written and Performed by Rachelle Ferrell

How can we have peace in the Middle East When there's none at home?

How can we have understanding in the land When there's none in the woman and there's none in the man?

How can we heal the wounds of the world

If we cannot heal our own?

And where does this peace on earth begin If not in the home?

Where do we go now?

Do we let the devil win

Or do we get up and fight?

Surely we know how to conquer all our fear. Bring an end to the violence, Bring an end to the tears.

How can we heal the wounds of the world

If we cannot heal our own?

And where does this peace on earth begin If not in the home?

Well, there's too much talk about it

And too many walk without it. Where is the love?

Where is the God in your life?

To my left, a woman abuses her children.

To my right, somebody's beating his wife.

Tell me, where is the love? Where is the God in your life?

How can we heal the wounds of the world

If we cannot heal our own?

And where does this peace on earth begin If not in the home?

RED CARD: FOR RETURNING GUESTS & SPDL MEMBERS

If you're a guest who's ready to take the next step or a church member who wants to deepen your involvement, fill out the red pew card—I'm a Regular—and drop it in the offering plate. Let us know how we can help.

WHERE CAN I FIND ...

Bathrooms | There are restrooms on each floor of the church. Bathrooms with changing tables are on the third floor down from the Fellowship Hall. Restrooms closest to the Sanctuary are near the church office.

Emergency Care/First Aid Greeters and Bible study leaders can help you receive first aid before worship. If you need help during the service, see one of our uniformed officers just outside of the Sanctuary.

CHILDCARE DURING WORSHIP

We love to see children at Second-Ponce, and we have a Kids’ Club area just for them! It's one floor up from the Sanctuary, and our greeters will be happy to show you the way. In the Kids' Club, there’s a nursery and Kids Worship for babies–5th grade. You may take your children to the Kids' Club before the service or, if you prefer, they can stay with you in the Sanctuary for the entire hour or until the Doxology when kids leave with ministry leaders.

JOINING SECOND-PONCE

Second-Ponce enthusiastically welcomes you to make a commitment to Christ and our community of faith. At any time during the Hymn of Response, simply walk to the front of the Sanctuary where a member of our ministry team will greet you with warmth and joy. If you're uncomfortable being "in the spotlight," but still want to join–that's ok! Speak with one of our ministers after worship and they'll walk you through an alternate plan.

Water Fountains | Water fountains are by the restrooms on each floor.

40 WEEKS OF PRAYER GUIDE

Week 33 | Mar. 16–22: Reconciliation

Read: Matthew 5: 21–24

Action: Think of someone with whom you have had a disagreement with or a falling out, someone who might have a grievance toward you or your actions, or just simply someone with whom you are angry–personally or remotely. Then, pray this prayer asking God to work in the situation and in your heart revealing ways to reconcile.

Pray: God of all forgiveness, forgive me for my attitude of contempt for my neighbor or a stranger I disagree with. Help me to understand and see them as loved by You. Reveal to me my incorrectness or attitude of unfairness toward others. Forgive my uncontrolled tongue and show me where I have injured someone else. Forgive my anger with a family member, friend, co-worker or church member. Show me what specific actions I need to take to truly reconcile myself to these people. Thank you for Your grace. Amen.

LENTEN ART IN WORSHIP

SPdL Welcomes the Youth Company of diPA Center, Inc.

The youth company represents diPA Center, Inc in communities throughout the U.S., aligning God’s word through the performing arts. This arts program is designed to provide young artists—by invitation only—a platform through which they can be challenged in their artistry and ministry while challenging and inspiring audiences through relevant, bold, and cutting edge ministry through dance.

Artistic Expressions during Lent

This Lenten season at Second-Ponce, our worship services will include special artistic offerings such as painting, dance, sculpture, photography, and a cappella vocal music. Inspired by Rev. Ronnie Brewer’s Lenten sermon series “Dark Corners,” each art expression draws inspiration from the sermon focus that week.

Though Lent encourages us to acknowledge our shared mortality and humanity, the dark and deathly corners of life do not have the final say in God’s kingdom. Through these artistic offerings, may our Lenten journey of addressing the “Dark Corners” of our lives and world be a life-giving and meaningful experience.
