LITANY Bill Gabbard

Leader: The power of dreams lies in waking up. For when we close our eyes, we can see a better world.

Congregation: When we close our eyes, we can dream a better dream.

Leader: But when we open our eyes, we begin the work of faith.

Congregation: The power of worship is the same. When we enter this time, we can see a better world.

Leader: When we enter this time, we dream a better dream.

People: But when we leave this time, we begin the work of faith.

Leader: So come in. Dream your dream. Find hope here.

People: For in an hour, we will begin the work of faith. Let it be so.

CONGREGATIONAL BENEDICTION

GREEN GUEST CARD: FOR FIRST TIMERS

Use it to share as much information as you like and drop it in the offering plate. We understand that some people are hesitant to fill out church cards. It's true—a member of our pastoral staff will reach out, but you won't be flooded with communication. Engagement with us will be at your own pace.

RED CARD: FOR RETURNING GUESTS & SPDL MEMBERS

If you're a guest who's ready to take the next step or a church member who wants to deepen your involvement, fill out the red pew card—I'm a Regular—and drop it in the offering plate. Let us know how we can help.

PRAYER

Reciting the Lord's Prayer together is a powerful experience, one that is guided by incluson from its very first word. If prompted, we invite you to join us in this meaningful prayer practice.

Our Father, Which art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

OFFERTORY Alec Rowley

Choral Prelude on ‘Crimond’ (Hymn 65, The Lord’s My Shepherd, I’ll Not Want) Jack Mitchener, organ

POSTLUDE Fughetta in A Major Felix Mendelssohn Jack Mitchener, organ

We love to see children at Second-Ponce, and we have a Kids’ Club area just for them! It's one floor up from the Sanctuary, and our greeters will be happy to show you the way. In the Kids' Club, there’s a nursery and Kids Worship for babies–5th grade. You may take your children to the Kids' Club before the service or, if you prefer, they can stay with you in the Sanctuary for the entire hour or until the Doxology when kids leave with ministry leaders.

JOINING SECOND-PONCE

Second-Ponce enthusiastically welcomes you to make a commitment to Christ and our community of faith. At any time during the Hymn of Response, simply walk to the front of the Sanctuary where a member of our ministry team will greet you with warmth and joy. If you're uncomfortable being "in the spotlight," but still want to join–that's ok! Speak with one of our ministers after worship and they'll walk you through an alternate plan.

CHILDCARE DURING WORSHIP

NOVEMBER FOOD DRIVE

This month, we're helping our friends at Toco Hills Community Alliance restock their pantry with two essentials: rice and beans. Collection bins are in the Welcome Center.

Note: Please do not purchase oversized bags or cans as they can be difficult to carry home for those walking or riding public transportation.

WEEKLY PRAYER GUIDE 40 WEEKS OF PRAYER

Week 14 (Nov. 10–16): Deepening Our Spiritual Practices

Read: 1 Corinthians 9:24–27 (NLT)

Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified. Pray:

God, we are thankful that Christ is with us always as we try to grow in His image and deepen our practice of spiritual disciplines. Help us to:

• Read the Bible—even when we may not understand what it is saying some of the time

• Pray—even when we don’t have the right words to pray

• Forgive—when it is easier to stay angry

• Move forward—when sometimes we want to just give up and quit

• Give a word of encouragement to others who are also trying to become better followers of Christ.

God’s people have always dreamed. God often whispered promises through those dreams for those listening in faith.
