We come to hear the story of God’s faithfulness to past generations. But we also look to the future as well as the past. The God who was with our ancestors is with us as well. We pray that you give our children wisdom and direction in making decisions, and in each new situation and journey you have for them now. Teach them to listen closely to your voice, that they would have a heart to obey your word and have a desire for right choices. We pray that these we love so much would walk faithfully and diligently in all your ways. We ask that you make their footsteps firm, that your Word would be a constant lamp for their feet and a light to their path. May they sense the freshness of your Spirit in their lives in amazing ways, may they be strengthened and instilled with hope for the new roads you have in store. We ask for your wisdom and clear direction over their lives, that you would give them understanding beyond their years. We ask for you to open doors that need to be opened and close every one that should be shut tight. Allow every gift and treasure you have placed in their lives to grow and flourish, to bring you glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.

ANNOUNCEMENTS LADY GAGA AND SOCIAL MEDIA MINISTERS By Candice Young, Communications Director I once read an article that said the church could learn a lot from Lady Gaga. Pretty good hook, right? The author praised her use of social media and suggested churches take inspiration when building their own social witness. A key part of Lady Gaga’s social media success is that she doesn’t do it alone. (Sounds like church if you ask me). Her fans help spread the word about concert tours, interviews and new music. It’s like she has millions of social media managers who, simply by interacting with her posts, help keep the world informed of the latest news. While we may not have music videos or red carpet moments to share, there are so many good things happening at Second-Ponce, and we need your help informing the world. Sharing the love of God and inviting people into our community is foundational to Second-Ponce, and our congregation does it so beautifully. Extending that hospitality online is where we can learn from Lady Gaga and her fans. Dock calls it being “Social Media Ministers,” and here are a few ways you can be one. When you see posts from Second-Ponce on Facebook or Instagram: Like: Give our posts a thumbs up or heart Share: This allows people who don’t follow us on social media see what we’re up to Comment: Just a few words or an emoji can help spread the word Tag: Mention friends or loved ones in a comment or tag Second-Ponce in posts of your own. Being a social media minister is that simple. A few clicks or comments really can help us broaden our reach. You never know what post could be the catalyst for leading someone to Christ or to Second-Ponce. You also never know who will inspire a church. Even Lady Gaga. Even if you can’t join us for worship in person that Sunday, you are welcome to join us outside for our picnic at 12:15 p.m. MIAMI MISSION TRIP 2021 July 10–17, 2021 | Miami, Florida Second-Ponce is excited to announce we’re once again sending a mission team to Touching Miami with Love (TML) in Miami, Florida. Our team will be assisting TML’s accredited childcare program by leading devotions and Bible Lessons, visual arts, enrichment and fitness. No special skills are required, only an open heart that is ready to serve and build relationships with the TML children. Cost: $675 plus transportation and scholarships are available. Volunteers must be 16 years old, wear masks, socially distance and be COVID vaccinated. Registration deadline is May 15. We need both prayer and financial supporters to help make this trip possible. By committing to pray and/or pay, you are increasing our ability to share God’s love in Miami. We also need folks to help prep materials for the trip in advance. We’re excited to share that we’ve planned both virtual and in-person options for this year’s Vacation Bible School. If by June, Atlanta is in Phase 3 of its regathering plan, we’ll implement the in-person option. If not, we’ll move to a fully virtual experience.
