Bellport Golf Club

Bellport Golf Club is a nice little private course. The views are nice, right by the water. There can be a lot of wind, but it is almost always windy on any course that I play, so I just kind of ignore it. Anytime I have tried to factor in the wind, the gusts stop as I hit my ball. I just go with it.

I’ve only played scrambles off the blues here, so it is hard to judge the difficulty. One round I had a ringer, so I can say I got a double eagle here. We came in 2nd, but I really accomplished nothing all day. We used 1 of my shots all day, so I just should have stayed in the cart. We took full advantage of our bragging rights.

We always started in the middle of the course, so I will give some of the highlights. Bunkers were never an issue for me, because we always had 1 in the fairway. That was always our ‘best’. With the ringer, it felt like a pitch and putt. Without the ringer, it felt a lot longer.

The 10th hole is a nice little par 3 over a lake. It is an easy 130 yard birdie opportunity. While I was never the closest to the pin, Even my tee shots left a makeable birdie putt. Every time we have birdied this hole, I don’t think I have ever actually putt on this green. My favorite part of this hole is you tee off, then you need to walk across a bridge to the green. You also need to bring your driver to tee off for the 11th hole. If not for the bridge, I would find this hole too easy to be worth mention.

The 11th hole is not my favorite. The tee shot is over water, and then a sharp dogleg left. Big hitters can play the turn, I’m happy to make it across. This hole would normally crush me, but it is memorable because my tee shot was the only one we used playing with the ringer. He tried to cut the turn, and we couldn’t find his ball. We think he went in the water along the left side. At least I made a contribution.
