Casa Colinas

Built on the edge of Benahavis Natural Park, it is only nature itself that can alter the view. Human desire to build roads, properties and cities find no room to spoil the view here.
Casa Colinas is certainly not the only villa of very high quality on the southern Spanish coast. There are several of them, but very few located in such a privilidged position . Up here, there is undisturbed peace and tranquility, magnificent views in the middle of the mountain nature to the water in the Mediterranean, and as far as to the mountains in Morocco.
The last villa on the edge of a protected national park. In a private, secluded and video-monitored Estate 10 minutes up in the mountains behind Marbella, the view from Casa Colinas is quite special. With 450 meters above sea level, it is built into a south and west facing mountain slope and stands solitary as the last villa on the edge of a protected national park. Everything in the view is nature's own down through the valley to the coastal land and the Mediterranean Sea.
As a protected national park, nothing will change, no roads, no properties, no cities will come into view, and the sun will always go undisturbed down behind the mountain until one day even the sun burns out! Location, location, location, that's what always comes first before uncompromising, exclusive villas are built. From here to eternity, the view will be here. Therefore, the location cannot be better than here, where Casa Colinas is built.
We furnish with light, for light becomes architecture when daylight has been used up. With the cloudless sky here in Southern Spain we also enjoy the night light, which the Moon and the Milky Way sprinkle down.
Casa Colinas is located in the mountain region of Benahavis just 6 kilometers from the town of Benahavis, a beautiful, white-washed Pueblo in one of the most mountainous areas in the western Costa del Sol. Here, one can touch the Moon, here the sky is always blue, nature is vast, it is diverse and rich in experiences. And then it is in Benahavis, one finds the most noteworthy and picturesque views, southern Spain can offer.
The town of Benahavis is located between Marbella, Estepona and Ronda Just 7 kilometers from the coast. The town is known for its restaurants, known as the dining room of the Costa del Sol. There are 9 golf courses in Benahavis out of 60 on the Costa del Sol.
The town is typical of the Moorish settlements throughout Southern Europe. The streets are narrow, the backstreets wind to end in the town square. The town has its origin in Al Andalus, the Moorish kingdom, which at its peak covered almost the entire Iberian peninsula.
Casa Colinas
Calle Isabel Allende, Vial 8
Plot C27, Urbanization Monte Mayor 29679 Benahavis, Malaga, Spain
Only the mountain birds and the heavenly angels, can look in.
Monte Mayor in Spanish means ‘the highest and most important mountain’. Monte Mayor is a secluded and guarded area with only one entrance and one exit.
All vehicular traffic in and out is video recorded, and mobile guards ensure peace and quiet in the neighborhood around the clock. With focus on location, climate and security, Monte Mayor is one of the top urbanizations on the Costa del Sol.
Peace and tranquility. Casa Colinas stands on the edge of the protected national park. Casa Colinas is also the last property on the road, so there is absolutely no traffic passing here.
The 18.5 meter long pool is built for swimmers who swim laps. One after another. After exercise, the built-in bar welcomes with underwater chairs and drinks.
Casa Colinas is the realization of the dream of living in the mountains with a river below winding through nature filled with orange trees, fig trees, deer, wild boar, and mountain goats. A special bonus for Casa Colinas is the view of the Mediterranean Sea with Gibraltar and the Rif Mountains in the distant horizon.
As wine is history in bottles, the fountain with running water is the obligatory sound in the Andalusian courtyard.
Indoor space, outdoor space. Here in Europe's southernmost geography, outdoor space means everything. Large sliding doors open to life on the terraces, which with more than 850 sq m offers almost as much space outside as inside.
The joy of living in the mountains is inversely proportional to building a house that will stand here for the next few hundred years. Piloting is the keyword, and it's better to have way too much than a little too little. It took 6 months to ram 1800 meters of piloting piles of reinforced concrete into the mountain. On this foundation, Casa Colinas stands well. The same foundation also applies to the wall against the road.
The ancient Romans called the Mediterranean Sea Mare Nostrum, our sea. Quite an ownership, and so it remained for several hundred years.
From Casa Colinas, the Marbella coast to Mare Nostrum is just 10 minutes away.
Breakfast, lunch or dinner on the terrace - right next to the kitchen
Barbecue with gas grill and wood fired pizza oven, all made with extractor hood and chimney
As the Earth spins, the Sun sets behind the national park, the light retreats in the sky. Casa Colinas is a private paradise built on the right mountainside of Monte Mayor. It's a cosmopolitan house, it could just as well be in the mountains on the Californian west coast.
Light creates atmospheres, and atmospheres can be created with the built-in lights in the pool in blue, green, and red shades. With two large air-to-water heat pumps, the water is always 25-30 degrees, even in winter. A motorized blanket for the night with built-in solar cells during the day keeps the heat.
Calzada Portuguesa. The granite stones in the courtyard are everlasting, they demand no attention, and they cement the durable material choice, which Portugal is particularly known for.
The heart of Casa Colinas is the large kitchen extended from the 140 sq m living room. All sliding doors to the west can be opened towards the lounge environment on the terrace and the mountains to the west. To the east stands a 300-year-old olive tree. It's a spacious kitchen, a professional kitchen with the best appliances and white goods.
All guest rooms have their own bathroom en suite, and they all have the most amazing view of the mountain nature in the national park and the river Rio Guadalmansa running at the bottom of the valley.
The most private room in Casa Colinas is the master bedroom. It's located in its own intimate section with a large, transparent bathroom and a walk-in closet to the south. A single press of a button changes the room into a cinema with a built-in screen and projector.
Anything can happen in the dark, and it does in the basement of Casa Colinas. Private cinema with space for 12 guests is designed and built by Bang & Olufsen.
A professional kitchen also has a professional wine cellar with control of temperature and humidity.
The basement acts as an isolated department in relation to the rest of Casa Colinas. It's the section for self-pampering, spa, fitness, massage, and relaxation.
A platform with artificial grass was constructed for the solar cells that generates energy directly to the house via a converter. The solar cells cannot be seen from the house.
The DAIKIN installation is the heart of the house, and like a real heart with inflow and return flow, it is also designed accordingly. With intelligent units and large hot water tanks, water is distributed around the house. The system also controls underfloor heating and the pool.
Under the pool, there are several large water tanks hidden. They are activated automatically if water cannot be supplied from outside for any reason. The tanks have a capacity for three days of consumption for 12 people.
Big house, big facilities, big machines, big closets. Of course. Plenty of closet space for storing towels, tablecloths, bed linen, etc. The laundry has its own highway to the basement via chutes from the ground floor and 1st floor.
