The Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) helps families living within Seattle city limits pay for the cost of childcare for children 1 month to 12 years of age. The program is open to all eligible children, regardless of citizenship status, race, gender, ethnicity or developmental need. The first step is online, where families are screened for eligibility. Thereafter, a representative from the CCAP Intake Team will make contact and offer application materials.

CCAP may be available to parents/guardians, whether or not employed or enrolled in an approved education program, and to those who need childcare for attending doctors’ visits and physical/occupational therapy, who are looking for work/doing interviews, or who are on family medical leave.

Child Care (WCCC)

Child Care Check: check@dcyf.wa.gov 866-482-4325, option 3 dcyf.wa.gov

WCCC helps eligible families pay for childcare. When a family qualifies for childcare subsidy benefits and chooses an eligible provider, the state pays a portion of the cost. Parents may be responsible for a co-payment to their provider each month. Families experiencing homelessness may be approved for up to 12 months to help resolve issues surrounding homelessness.

On the DCYF website, it’s possible to find childcare, school-aged childcare resources, early learning opportunities, and learn how to get help to pay for services. Use the Child Care Check as a tool to help in the search for quality childcare. Parents, families and others can get information about individual childcare and early learning programs in Washington.

The special needs rate supports the childcare provider with additional costs incurred by providing care for a child with unique physical, emotional or developmental needs. The special needs rate is a payment made in addition to the regular subsidy payment for caring for a child.
