2024-25 Impact Report ISSUU 11252025

Page 1

Dear Friends of Seattle Nativity School,

This past June, Seattle Nativity School celebrated its tenth graduation. Our first class of 14 students graduated in 2016 at the picturesque, Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Church. One of those graduates, Aileen, returned this year to our larger home at St. Edward Parish Church to celebrate her younger sister Mia’s graduation. In the nine years since her own graduation, Aileen has lived out the Nativity promise. She studied and worked hard at Nativity, preparing for Seattle Preparatory School. During her time at Seattle Preparatory School, she continued her quest for knowledge and determined to have the acumen for a Jesuit University. She received a wonderful scholarship for Gonzaga University, graduating successfully in four years with two degrees: a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts, French Major. She is currently working in finance and developing her skills for a strong career. Aileen is just one of 164 Nativity graduates who rise each day and pursue dreams that would have been out of reach without the foundation Nativity provided.

We celebrate Rise and Shine, capturing the daily transformations of our students. Our expectations of high daily attendance, partnered with small class sizes and an extended school day, encourage each student to rise each morning and shine with their best thoughts, attitudes, and a growth mindset.

Your commitment has given Nativity faculty and staff the tools to prepare students for rigorous, college-preparatory high schools, and the resources to guide those students through college, and launch into careers, trades, and service with confidence and hope.

Our Graduate Support Program is unlike any middle school program in the region. Our faculty and Graduate Support team walk with every student and family from entrance in sixth grade, as they transition into high school, and then continue that support for at least eight years — through high school, college, and into their first career choices.

At Nativity, we focus on our students finding the best academic options to make them shine and develop their God-given talents. And while financial support helps open doors, the strongest sign of Nativity’s impact is that families entrust us with their younger children — and encourage friends to do the same.

As Mia is to Aileen, many of our students are younger siblings of prior graduates. Graduation is a joyous event. The church fills with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. They come to witness our students shine and to celebrate their successes. The joyous atmosphere is a celebration of how each child has shined and will continue with a bright future.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

— JEREMIAH 29:11

Thank you for your steadfast commitment to Seattle Nativity School. Enjoy the following interviews of Nativity families who share their transformations.

Together, we are igniting hope, inspiring minds, and changing lives.

With gratitude, Rich Barth

eattle Nativity School played a transformative role in the journey of Freddy and Julie’s family. With a strong Catholic background, they sought a school where their children, Wilner and Whitney, could grow both academically and in their faith.

Seattle Nativity provided that foundation, and more. The family was especially grateful for the financial support, making this tuition-free education possible, describing Nativity as life-changing. During their years at Nativity, both children flourished. Whitney thrived in science and math, earning second place in a statewide science fair competition, while also exploring her passions for leadership and aspirations for a career in law or pediatrics. Wilner found success in athletics, participating in basketball and track, where he discovered resilience and teamwork that now fuel his dreams of becoming a CEO. Beyond academics and extracurriculars, Freddy noticed his children rising into responsible young people who independently embraced their studies and home responsibilities.

“.. . describing Nativity as life-changing.”

Seattle Nativity’s holistic approach, combining academic, emotional, and spiritual development, opened doors for both children and inspired them to pursue meaningful aspirations. As they move forward, the foundation laid at Nativity remains important and their faith will continue lighting their path.

hen Tamaura enrolled her youngest daughter, Mailia, at Seattle Nativity School, she hoped for a fresh start. In elementary school, Mailia struggled to read and retain information, and despite modifications made for her, progress was painfully slow. Teachers often misunderstood her needs, leaving Tamaura exhausted from advocating alone. Everything changed the day they received their acceptance letter to Seattle Nativity.

“...small steps that grew into big transformations.”

From the very first summer program, Mailia began to shine. She practiced smiling, raising her hand, and making friends small steps that grew into big transformations. With the support of dedicated teachers like Mrs. Rice and Ms. Andre, Mailia blossomed from shy and hesitant into a confident leader. By eighth grade, she was mentoring new students, speaking up in class, and even earning Student of the Month. She discovered a love for science and announced she wanted to be a teacher one day.

For Tamaura, the shift was life-changing. Her quiet, uncertain daughter had become a vibrant, outspoken young woman who loved school and embraced leadership. At home, their relationship deepened. They laughed more, talked more, and shared real conversations. Seattle Nativity unlocked Mailia’s potential and gave her family hope for a brighter future.

reks, parent of twins,David and Daniel, and younger sibling twins, Nicole and Nickson, found Seattle Nativity School to be a transformative place for her family. Nativity’s welcoming environment, small classes, and Jesuit values helped her children flourish academically and personally. From quiet students, David and Daniel grew into confident, responsible young leaders who mentor their peers and contribute to the community. Nicole and Nickson grew exponentially as students and leaders.

David,
“...Jesuit values helped my children flourish academically and personally.”

Seattle Nativity’s support extended beyond academics, providing practical assistance, like Christmas gifts and food resources, providing stability to Erek’s family during difficult times. Close relationships with teachers gave her children individualized attention and helped build strong moral foundations. “It’s like a family,” she said, explaining how her children feel safe and supported, with access to teachers, due to small class sizes. This supportive community prepares students academically as they form them to be committed, good citizens.

With David and Daniel in high school and Nicole and Nickson preparing for high school and beyond, Ereks credits Seattle Nativity for their readiness, integrity, and gratitude for the opportunities they have received. The school’s mission to provide a high quality education and community has made a lasting difference in her family’s life.

FFor Edith and Juan, choosing Seattle Nativity School for their daughters, Aileen, Nativity Class of 2016, and Mia, Nativity Class of 2025, transformed their children’s futures and their family life. They wanted their children to have an education that was not available to them, knowing that education was deeply personal and that no circumstance could ever take this power away.

“Graduation was joyous ... a celebration of all of the kids and families!”

The commute to school was longer, but Edith and Juan felt peace of mind knowing their girls were physically and emotionally safe, surrounded by caring teachers, and provided for each day, giving their family a sense of security.

From the start, education was the top priority for Juan and Edith. Aileen excelled, often helping her classmates grasp difficult concepts, while Mia grew in confidence and personal discipline. Nativity’s values of respect, structure, and academic rigor shaped both girls in powerful ways.

The Nativity foundation opened doors. Aileen thrived at Seattle Preparatory School and Gonzaga University, where she modeled leadership and service by choosing a career focused on helping others. Today, she continues to mentor Mia, who continues her education at Seattle Preparatory School, and is now exploring her passion for coding with confidence using skills fostered at Nativity.

Edith and Juan reflect that Nativity provided the nourishment their daughters needed to grow, opened doors to new opportunities, and strengthened their family’s bond in lasting ways.

In 2016, Aileen was part of Nativity’s inaugural graduating class. In 2025, Mia, graduated from Nativity in the tenth graduating class.

raduate Support is an essential aspect of Seattle Nativity School. Graduate Support is available to every student who has ever enrolled at Nativity. Our program has grown to serve the needs of our students and their families, beginning with our sixth grade students upon entry. Our students and families rely on our guidance and support for admission and financial aid applications for high school and college. We have expanded our program to include personal goal setting, financial literacy, career exploration, community building, extracurricular activities, and more in our Graduate Support class. In 2024-25, we celebrated our tenth graduating class!
