Body of Sound - Wendy A. (2022

By Wendy A. (2022)

One, The rough, brass strings creating calluses on my fingers.

Two, The peaceful sound soaring through the room; a sound of laughter and chatter.

Three, Clarity in the mind, leaving space only for the vibration of the body in my hands, ringing its tune into my ears.

Four, Sense of time lost, becoming one with the pull of each chord.

Five, Pain fading, as the pinky, index, middle, and ring finger step on each chord. Holding down each raspy string against the neck of the instrument so strongly it leaves its mark on the skin.

Six, A lack of knowledge on its notes, but a constant revision of the 8 chords known. Each time sounding clearer, more cheerful, less drowned.
