FAVORITE CLASS OR PROFESSOR: Health Assessments & Interventions with Professor Madlyn “Mady” Murrey, ‘81, MN, RN. It’s the class where nursing majors really start to dive into the hands-on nursing skills. Murrey is my favorite professor—she is so kind and really loves coming to class every day and it just radiates off her.
FAVORITE PLACE IN SEATTLE: Capitol Hill and The Ave. Both have so much good food and a lot of really cool thrift stores/small shops.
FAVORITE THING TO DO FOR FUN: Working out and thrifting. I love working out, especially at our gym because it’s right there. If I want to play basketball or volleyball, I can just rent out a ball from the front and play.
FAVORITE FOOD: I eat literally anything you give me, but I absolutely love Korean BBQ and those Korean corndogs down in the International District! Also, Seattle Best Tea is right next to it, which is so good.

COMPUTER SCIENCE MAJOR
FROM EUGENE, OREGON
With more than 600 members, the Esports and Gaming Club is the largest and fastest growing club on campus. Students meet weekly to enjoy the company of others around video games. Members interested in esports focus on the competitive side of gaming and competitive teams excel in their environments. The club’s explosive growth and success led to a dedicated physical space on campus.
Esports takes pride in the diversity and inclusivity of their community. While gaming is traditionally a male-dominated space, the group has a large and active female membership, thanks in part to the group being founded by women. In addition to their passion for gaming, this robust community has an active Discord channel to discuss everything from their upcoming Overwatch tournament to the latest campus events and news.
The club hosts large events every quarter, including League of Legends World Championship watch parties, Super Smash Bros. tournaments and panels with guests from the professional gaming world.
I have made a lot of my friends through the Esports and Gaming club. I joined the club as a freshman and I was able to compete on the (multiplayer first-person game) Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) team throughout my four years here. Through in-person club meetings and online discord game nights I’ve been able to meet and connect with a lot of great people.”
Located on the 3rd floor of the Student Center, the Esports Center stays open until midnight and features iBUYPOWER Mono 237i Gaming PCs, gaming consoles (Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch) along with headphones and keyboards for student use.

Favorite spot on campus: I’d have to say Sinegal Center or the Quad.
Favorite class or professor: Mobile Development with (Assistant Teaching Professor) Michael Koenig. I really enjoyed the project we worked on all quarter and I thought Mike’s knowledge about computer science in the professional world was extremely helpful for me.

Favorite thing to do for fun: I love to play board games, video games, go for runs and watch TV shows/movies.

Campus clubs: I am currently involved in MEChA, which is the on-campus club for Chicanx/Latinx students. I am also involved in (student-run radio station) KXSU, where I have a radio show along with two friends on Fridays, from 6-7 p.m.
Favorite location on campus: This would have to be a tie between the gym— because this is a form of self-care for myself—and the largest study room on the 12th floor of Campion Hall, because I love the 270-degree view of the city.
Favorite thing about Seattle: It’s the nature. Despite being in the downtown area, I feel like when I look around there are always evergreens in sight, which I find very calming. Nature has always been one of my safe spaces, so this is very comforting to me.
Dream job after graduation: My current dream job is to be a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or to work in pediatrics. My plan is to go through clinicals and get a feel for each rotation to see which one suits me the best.
Favorite band or music genre: My favorite genre of music would have to be reggaeton, more specifically Bad Bunny. I am [also] getting into reggae recently because it makes me feel very happy.
What I like most about Seattle University: What I like most is the support that I have received from my professors. Especially through the pandemic and all the accommodations that they made for us. Many of my professors are very understanding and willing to work with us to find a plan for us to succeed. I appreciate that greatly.

FAVORITE CLASS: My favorite classes were sports and entertainment marketing and classes that had a strong element of math. I enjoyed learning more about how to market different sports, as well as how to use math for financial and business analysis.

FAVORITE THING TO DO FOR FUN: Unfortunately, I was injured this season and I discovered DJ’ing as my new hobby. But as a sports geek I also watched a lot of sports on TV, mainly European basketball and football (soccer).
FAVORITE FOOD: Cevapi, which is a native food of the Balkans.
FAVORITE BOOK OR AUTHOR: My favorite book is Shoe Dog by Phil Knight.

FAVORITE THING TO DO FOR FUN: I’m a huge soccer fan. When I attended Seattle U, one of my favorite things to do was get a group of friends together to go watch the Sounders play downtown.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT SEATTLE U: Seattle University taught me the value of introspection and self-reflection as well as ways to make those things a regular part of my life. The Jesuit character of the school and its emphasis on developing the whole person are rare among colleges and something I am particularly grateful for.
