Dear Members,

We are pleased to welcome you to the Sea Palms Ladies’ Golf Association. Our mission is to provide an enjoyable, competitive, and respectful environment for all members, whether you are here for casual play or striving for your personal best. We hope this handbook will be a useful tool in guiding you through your membership and ensuring your time at Sea Palms is both memorable and fulfilling.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Sea Palms Ladies’ Golf Association exists to promote and enhance the game of golf at Sea Palms on St. Simons Island, creating opportunities for members to compete, socialize, and improve their skills while fostering a strong sense of community and sportsmanship.

CLUB HISTORY & HERITAGE

Sea Palms has long been a cornerstone of golf on St. Simons Island. Originally established in 1967 it has grown into one of Georgia’s premier golf destinations. The Ladies’ Golf Association was formed to provide a structured environment for women of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the game in a competitive and friendly atmosphere.

BECOMING A MEMBER

To join the Sea Palms LGA, interested individuals must contact Cissy Thompson, Director of Membership at cissy.thompson@seapalms.com or (912)434-5335 and be a signature member of Sea Palms. Membership is open to all women over the age of 18 regardless of skill level. New members will receive a complimentary handicap and access to exclusive events.

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

* Access to exclusive tournaments and events

* LGA-sponsored events

* Priority tee times for scheduled LGA events

* Invitations to social gatherings and member-only events

* Eligibility for player of the year points prizes

CODE OF CONDUCT

Members of the Sea Palms LGA are expected to conduct themselves with integrity, respect, and fairness. This includes:

* Respecting fellow golfers and maintaining a positive attitude on the course.

* Adhering to the golf course ’ s dress code and other policies.

* Posting all scores even when playing outside of LGA days.

* Demonstrating good sportsmanship, win or lose.

Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary actions, including suspension or termination of membership.

Sign up using Golf Genius before 12 PM on Monday.

The Golf Shop staff will send out pairings on Monday.

All members will play in different foursomes weekly.

$5 Entry Fee - with cash payouts each round.

Participation requirement: Minimum of 8 members needed for prize eligibility.

Handicap Limit: 36

Senior Tees: Members 70+ may use Silver Tees, adjust accordingly.

The format is based on net scores; 9 days scheduled.

FORMAT PRIZES

The first place team splits ⅔ of the prize pool. The second place team splits ⅓ of the prize pool.

ELIGIBILITY

Teams must participate in at least 3 events, or 50% of the season.

TEAM SELECTION

Blind draw of A, B, C, D flight players.

TEAM CAPTAIN DUTIES

Encourage participation, organize gatherings, and promote team spirit.

All LGA members play for points even if not on a team.

Pairings are randomized each week and not grouped by team.

End of the Year Luncheon and awards after last Team Play event of the year.

Must be a Sea Palms LGA & Sea Palms Member to participate.

The six clubs currently participating in the Golden Isles Ladies Interclubs are Brunswick Country Club, Jekyll Island Golf Club, King & Prince, Osprey Cove, Sea Island, and Sea Palms. Contact Carol Nikoukary for more information.

FORMAT

6 players + 2 alternates. Better ball of pairs, Gross & Net. Max playing handicap: 30.

SCORING

Nassau point system – 1 pt front, 1 pt back, 1 pt overall match.

DROP

From knee-height, within two club lengths or in line with the pin.

WINTER RULES

If in effect, lift, clean, and place within 18 inches. No relief in rough.

OUT OF BOUNDS

Over roadways or defined by white stakes/lines.

HOLE 3

Re-tee or drop on this side of pond if ball is in water.

PENALTY AREAS

Red/yellow stakes and/or painted lines.

CART PATHS

Relief from cement paths only.

BURROWING ANIMALS

Free relief one club length, no closer to hole.

Pace of Play 4 hours

Repair ball marks and divots.

LGA scores posted by Golf Shop. Verify on GHIN.

Post your own non-LGA scores promptly (9 or 18 holes).

PICK UPS

Only allowed for certain games. Max score = net double bogey.

Submit 2 signed/attested scorecards per group.
