New N.C. Revenue Secretary Department of Revenue Secretary Ken Lay is out, and Sen. David Hoyle from Gaston County is the new secretary. Hoyle, co-chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, has written many of the tax laws his new position administers.

Governor's Shakeup Gov. Bev Perdue announced a shakeup in government is coming due to the upcoming $3 billion to $4 billion budget shortfall. SEANC responded by saying “We do feel like we've been cut to the bone and asked to do more with less."

Gov. Bev Perdue issued an executive order Thursday to improve efficiency and reduce bureaucracy in state government. The executive order directs cabinet secretaries to not create any new rules unless absolutely necessary.

SEANC Veteran's Council Calling all SEANC member veterans! SEANC President Charles Johnson is forming a new SEANC committee, chaired by Dan Efird of District 17, dedicated to furthering and protecting the rights and benefits of SEANC members who have served in the armed forces. We are looking for interested veterans to serve on the committee.
