With the recent conclusion of National Volunteers Week, I wanted to use this month's column to pay tribute to the volunteers that run our club. Apart from a refund on some or all of their fees, our Executive, Committee, Coaches and Team Managers are all unpaid Without their very generous efforts, the club simply ceases to function. This newsletter (Sean), managing registration (Olivia), line marking (Shane, Cheree), coordinating the team managers (Katie) are just a small sample of the dozens of volunteers who keep the heart of our club beating
If you have the time and motivation to volunteer for our club, we'd love to hear from you (click here)
Good progress has been made, but it’s clear that our clubrooms will not be completed according to the original timeframe. The most recent advice we have is that the pavilion will likely be completed in October 2023.

First, the good news – we have new goals! Four new sets of junior and MiniRoos goals were assembled by a hardy band of volunteers over the past week. Best of all, all have wheels so the days of relying on many hands to carry the goals are over! U11 GK Charlie couldn't wait to defend them in last Saturday's game against Chelsea! In contrast, training was hampered in the first week of June with our training lights not operational. The switchboard for the lights, located in the building site for our new clubrooms, was damaged. Keep in contact with your TMs for details of when the lights are again working.
MAY has been another good month for our Senior Women’s team. We remain undefeated after seven games and sit atop the State League 5 South-East table after playing every team in our league once
One of the highlights was the win over then top-of-the-ladderChelsea. The girls turned around a 2-1 deficit at half-time to emerge 5-2 winners It was a great way to celebrate Female Football Week!
It’s been a great team effort, everyone in the squad has stepped up when their teammates needed them and has had their “moments” This group of young women are a pleasure to coach and a joy to watch
Lexi Woodhill and Kira Greenwood became the first Senior Women to score hat-tricks in the 9-0 win over Skye United.
Not to be outdone Misha Campbell scored five against Malvern the following week including a hat-trick inside 15 minutes.
So far this season, we have 10 players who’ve scored goal which highlights the balance and versatility of the team
It’s also important to acknowledge the work that our defence has done over the past four games with only three goals conceded in that time. We’ve been able to provide younger players like Jessica Wilton and Sahara Sadlo with their first taste of senior football, which we'll keep doing through the season.

Our Vice President, Shelley, and Secretary, Emily, have started the process of catching up with teams to remind everyone of our Code of Conduct (click here to view) and the club’s expectations of its members.
It’s an important thing for us as a club that we are clear about the values and behaviours that are promoted and modelled by all of our players, volunteers and spectators.
Our opponents and our community will judge us by these behaviours. We’ve had some wonderful feedback from other clubs this season, and we’d like that to continue.
However, our behaviours also affect how our own players feel about being part of their team, how they relate to their coach and teammates, and whether they want to play with us in the future.
One of our values is Respect, which means that being part of this club requires us to respect our teammates and recognise what they bring to the team.
When disagreements or mistakes occur (and being soccer, we will always make mistakes), it’s important that we respectfully recognise and resolve them amicably, for the good of the players, the team and the club.
THE month of May month started in promising fashion for the Senior Men’s team but the mettle of the lads is being tested after losing four in-a-row
After victories over Pakenham United and Seaford United, the Mariners dropped a tight affair to Mentone, followed by defeats at the hands of Aspendale, Casey Panthers and Bunyip & District

Coming into a new club, he needed a little time to gain extra fitness and played a few games in the reserves to work his way into the senior side.
In the last month Bee has put together a string of consistent performances and is always committed in training.
It’s been a fantastic month for Finn, who has trained and played to an extremely high standard. He has played a significant role in our excellent goals-against performance.
Finn wants to learn and improve at every session and game, and sets a fine example for our entire squad.
Conditions were perfect for thick socks and beanies when the Under-14 Raiders wore their FightMND Big Freeze gear to raise awareness and funds for the charity. Coaches, players, and families joined in wearing their own FightMND merch. After a great game against Manningham United Blues which the Raiders won 3-1, the girls then traded the Big Freeze slide for an ice-bowl race!
