What is the SSI Scuba diver course The thrill and excitement of scuba diving start with the first breath underwater, It does not really matter whether you have done a basic diver course before or just about to start your scuba diver course. The course enhances your diving ability with the assistance of 10 skills in the confined water along with 2 dives in the open water dive sites..

Scuba diver course can be completed within 2 days during your holiday here in Andamans and you can access the e-learning option for free to start the academic session now with the comfort of your home. Your instructor lets you dive on your own and keeps you well instructed so that you can sharpen your diving skills to gain more comfortability in breathing as well as swimming underwater while maintaining buoyancy.

You need to be very calm and push yourself a little ahead each time you learn new skills.

Being an SSI registered dive shop, We believe in gaining confidence by repetitive skills practice. Trust me, the way we have design the course structure you won’t find this very difficult to master. You should remember that as many time you practise diving as longer you last with the scuba tank and deeper you go to explore the oceans.

School of fish underwater

Day one Your instructor will start introducing himself as well as the course and assisting you in completing the paperwork, which is required for the activity such as registration form, privacy policy, divers code form, liability release form and medical questionnaire.

Post breakfast, Your instructor presents not only descriptive but also an interactive briefing session regarding what does S.C.U.B.A. stand for, what are the names of each part of the scuba equipment, How we assemble the unit together ( demonstration and practise of assembling as well as dissembling of the scuba unit ), what are the functions of each part, The importance of theory and the basic knowledge of marine life, How does changing pressure effect on our body, how we breathe and what are the techniques to breathe in order to become more comfortable for scuba diving in Andaman.

She is practising skills for scuba diving

Confined water session Your instructor prepares you for a short swim test ( 200 meters ), Snorkelling test ( 300 meters ) and float test of 2 minutes. These are the bare minimum requirements to proceed further. Your instructor accompanies you during the test and this is easy. Don’t worry, Because you can take as long as it takes to complete your swim test and while snorkelling you are about to encounter the schools of colourful fish to encourage yourself. We take a break for a coffee and some refreshments so that you can restore the stamina, you already spent swimming and snorkelling.

We demonstrate only five skills on day 1 and we would like you to practise the skills repetitively to become comfortable and confident for deep sea diving in Andaman.

Skills are 1. Regulator Remove and replace ( removing water from the regulator using purge method ) 2. Regulator Remove and replace ( removing water from the regulator using blow method ) 3. Regulator retrieval ( using swipe and reach method ) 4. Mask clearing half-flooded and full flooded ( removing water from mask using blow method ) 5. Alternate air source breathing stationary.

She is about to descend

Open water dive 1 As say the saying goes PLAN YOUR DIVE AND DIVE YOUR PLAN. It is very important for you and your instructor to have a clear vision with a proper plan for the dive. We believe in explaining the entry and exit methods, steady breathing pattern, regular equalisation as well as the dive site topography and the fish life. You should not rush things and calmly follow the instructions.

We do insist on performing a buddy check before entering the water to ensure all our equipment are working properly. It is recommended not to fiddle with any button unless directed by us. We get in the water one by one and our crew assist us in making a back roll entry as it is the best way of getting off the dive boat.

Once in the water, We start using the regulator at the surface and signal each other to begin the descend. We need to deflate to go down while Keep equalising on a regular basis using our other hand upon feeling squeeze discomfort on our eardrums. After reaching the point as planned, we start swimming. While diving in India, your instructor always stays at most an arm’s length away from you and you can see him/her all the time.

Your air consumption plays a vital role, The scuba tank does not last long if you breathe fast, heavy and shallow. Slow, steady and long breathing is recommended and that way the tank last longer so you get extra time to explore more. But mostly the dive time is at least 45 minutes. Remember Do not hold your breath.

Your instructor presents an encouraging debriefing about how you did it, what are the key points you should focus on in order to dive comfortably, the marine life you have seen while being diving as well as some magic tricks to improve your diving ability.

Morning Briefing

Day two We start the next day with a short briefing about what are the plans of the day and how we proceed further to finish the remaining skills plus 1 open water dive. We insist you check all your equipment as well as their sizes too before we head to the confined water skills.

We do recommend assembling your scuba unit and do a quick pre-dive safety check to ensure everything is working properly.

Confined water session You will be demonstrated the other 5 skills and you don’t have to go through all the test like the previous day. You need to perform a skills review, where you need to perform your instructor those 5 skills you learnt last day. Your instructor will be evaluating all the skills as per the performance requirements. Skills are 1.Buoyancy Check with a Total Diving System 2.Mask Removal and Replacement 3.Neutral Buoyancy (Diving Position) 4.Controlled Descent 5.Controlled Ascent and Safety Stop

She has just completed scuba diver course

Open water dive 2 You need to participate in planning your dive with your instructor. Because you need to perform some skills during the open water dive 2. Your instructor will make you understand every single possible thing and even assist you during controlled Descent, controlled ascent and safety Stop. You just have to be very calm and conscious to follow the steps as instructed. Remember never ever exceed the ascent rate of 9 meters per minute or 30 feet per 60 seconds. Your instructor will remind you at 5 meters depth of seawater to take a safety stop for 3 minutes. As usual, your instructor presents a nice and effective debriefing along with the description of those fish and coral you saw during your dive.
