Fowler College of Business Fiscal Year 2025-2026

Message from Leadership

Dear Donor, This year at the Fowler College of Business, we were inspired by the momentum of our students, faculty, and alumni, as well as by the generosity of donors like you who turn ambition into opportunity. With our undergraduate and graduate programs now ranked among the top 50 business programs in the country among public universities, Fowler is building on a strong foundation and accelerating what comes next. Philanthropy strengthens every part of that progress. Scholarships open doors and reduce barriers for talented students, while donor support also advances priorities central to our future: career readiness, experiential learning, social impact, and AI-powered innovation. Through personalized career guidance, employer access, applied projects, industry partnerships, entrepreneurial experiences, and emerging tools and technologies, students gain confidence and experience applying what they learn beyond the classroom. These opportunities help students see themselves as professionals, innovators, and leaders before they graduate. Thank you for investing in Fowler’s people, programs, and possibilities.

Dan Moshavi, Ph.D. Thomas and Evelyn Page Dean, Fowler College of Business

Student Spotlight

Thriving in the Aztec Experience Ruby Parrott, Class of 2026 Class Level: Undergraduate Student College: Fowler College of Business Major: Marketing

The last four years in the Fowler College of Business have been extremely transformative. After moving to San Diego from a small town, I was initially nervous about how I would succeed here. I was proven extremely wrong. I immersed myself in campus communities and built a home away from home at SDSU. Through leadership roles in Rotaract, Dance Marathon, Women in Business, and Associated Students, I gained a sense of belonging while developing professionally. Through the support of the Fowler College of Business, workshops, and professional networks, I gained confidence as I prepared to transition into my career. I had the opportunity to intern with SDSU Athletics, where I expanded my marketing skills while contributing to the Aztecs Going Pro program. That experience sparked my passion for strategic communication, advocacy, and serving students. In the classroom, Professors Eesha Sharma and Mark Lindner had a profound impact on my experience. Their passion for marketing and commitment to student success made a career in business feel achievable. I am forever grateful to the Fowler College of Business, its donors, faculty, and campus community for preparing me for the next chapter of my life.

Zach Almaraz, Class of 2026 Class Level: Undergraduate Student College: Fowler College of Business Major: Finance

By the time I arrived at San Diego State University, I had been running a sneaker resale business from home for two years. I knew sales was my passion. What FCB taught me was how to apply that passion and transform it into a career. What shaped me here was not just one class or one experience: it was all of them. Through my coursework, I learned how to think strategically, understand consumer behavior, and analyze global markets. Real-world projects challenged me to solve business problems and develop strategies beyond the classroom. Through student organizations and leadership roles, I learned how to work with others, earn respect through hard work, and lead with confidence. I also had the opportunity to compete in sales competitions that pushed me outside my comfort zone and gave me firsthand experience applying what I learned. Those experiences confirmed what I believed: I am built for a future in sales strategy and leadership. This summer, I began my career as an e-commerce sales intern at Razer. SDSU didn't just prepare me for the next step, it helped shape who I am today and gave me the confidence to build a bright future as a business leader. I am proud to be an Aztec for life!

“

SDSU didn't just prepare me for the next step; it helped shape who I am today and gave me the confidence to build a bright future as a business leader.

Carly Smithers, Class of 2026 Class Level: Undergraduate Student College: Fowler College of Business Major: Marketing

Being a student in the Fowler College of Business, I knew that I wanted to be as involved as I possibly could and continue building my leadership skills. Because of this drive, I became involved in organizations like Women in Leadership, which has been one of the most impactful parts of my college journey. Through these experiences, I have been able to collaborate with incredible peers, develop leadership skills, and help support the next generation of student leaders on campus. I have grown so much during my time at SDSU. I gained skills in event planning, logistics, outreach, and public speaking while also learning how to turn ideas into meaningful initiatives. More importantly, I learned the importance of community. Having a group of peers who supported me throughout college gave me the confidence to step outside of my comfort zone and truly grow into myself, both personally and professionally.

AI in the Digital Future Artificial intelligence continues to be a strategic priority across the Fowler College of Business, where students, faculty, and industry partners are exploring how emerging technologies can drive innovation, research, and entrepreneurship. Through investments in advanced technology, interdisciplinary learning, and entrepreneurship programming, Fowler is preparing students to lead in an increasingly AIdriven economy. James Silberrad Brown Center for Artificial Intelligence Expanded interdisciplinary AI research and hands-on learning opportunities, bringing together students and faculty from multiple disciplines to apply AI to real-world challenges. Acquired an NVIDIA DGX B200 AI server, one of the most advanced AI computing systems available, significantly expanding research capacity and access to industry-leading computational resources. Continued to emphasize ethical, human-centered approaches to AI while supporting research and innovation in areas such as healthcare, social robotics, and immersive technologies. Entrepreneurship Initiatives Donor support is helping SDSU students move beyond simply using artificial intelligence to building, testing, and applying AI solutions to real-world challenges. Through SDSU Entrepreneurship Initiatives, students gain handson experience at the intersection of AI and entrepreneurship. AI Coffee Chats spark curiosity and introduce emerging applications, while the ZIP Launchpad and Lavin Entrepreneurship Center provide opportunities to put that learning into practice. Paid student interns developed Launchmate, an AI agent that strengthens collaboration between student startup teams and their advisors. Lavin students built an AI tool to help early-stage investors evaluate startup opportunities, then ten paid interns worked directly alongside investors to gather feedback, observe the tool in action, and support its continued refinement. These experiences give students more than exposure to emerging technology. They develop the ability to create with AI, solve authentic problems, learn from real users, and use technology to amplify human expertise and decision-making.

Student researchers present project updates and findings as part of ongoing AI and technology development initiatives.
