Welcome to the King Center and Goodell Gymnasium, home of the Hardrockers. The facilities recently had a facelift as the women’s basketball, men’s basketball, women’s volleyball and men’s football teams all got upgrades to the locker room areas. The football team is totally housed at O’Harra Stadium, while volleyball, basketball and track recently had their current facilities modified. The locker rooms are all state of the art to go along with an excellent gym that seats approximately 3,000 fans. There also is a top of the line wellness center and an indoor pool for use too.

Rick and his family moved to Rapid City when his wife, Kathy, a pastor, accepted a call to a local Rapid City church. The Lutes’ are parents of two adult sons.

Tiffany McCampbell, SD Mines Assistant AD, SAAC Advisor, Senior Woman Administrator, Head Volleyball Coach Along with being the South Dakota Mines women’s volleyball coach, Tiffany is also the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) advisor, the Senior Woman Administrator and most recently beenh promoted to Hardrocker Assistant Athletics Director. As SAAC advisor, Tiffany presides over meeting and helps organize community service events. As the SWA, Tiffany’s role is to encourage and promote the involvement of women in decision-making, enhance the representation women's experiences and perspectives and support women’s interests in intercollegiate athletics. With her new duties as assistant AD Tiffany will have an active role in game-day management and have other administrative duties.

Head Coach Tiffany McCampbell Tiffany McCampbell, is in her fourth full season as the Lady Hardrocker volleyball coach at the South Dakota School of Mines. McCampbell joined the SD Mines athletic department after a two-year stint in St. Joseph, Mo., at NCAA Div. II Missouri Western State University. "I've always wanted to coach kids that were at a very high level academically minded as well as athletes that have great character," McCampbell said. "And that already goes with the philosophy of the kids that are here. They have a high academic standard and already have a great work ethic." With all of her volleyball experience as a coach and a player, McCampbell recognizes the requirements to be an athlete as well as a student at SDSM&T and is fully prepared to continue to bring the highest quality of person to the school. "It's kind of a different recruiting base. It's going to be a little bit of a challenge," McCampbell said. "I try to not only make them a well-rounded athlete, but also a well-rounded person and at a place like this you can actually do that." McCampbell instills a winning tradition into her team and get them to enjoy the game and play hard. It's that kind of team, McCampbell says, that has the stability to get to the top. "With the right team, (the style of play) will be a very fast tempo," McCampbell added. As far as goals are concerned McCampbell has her sights set on the very top and that's getting the Hardrockers to a place they have not been in a number of years.

Assistant Coach Jennie Malone Former standout student-athlete Jennie Malone is in her third full season as the Lady Hardrockers’ assistant volleyball coach for the 2012 season. Malone, who graduated in 2008 with an Industrial Engineering degree, holds numerous single-season and career records in both volleyball and basketball. Since graduation, she has been working at the Malone Engineering Incorporated in Rapid City. "I am really excited to still be a part of this program and this school. It's definitely different being on the other side of things," Malone said. "I am still learning to be on the other side of things and I will be learning for a long time. I'm excited about that too." One of the major advantages of having Malone on the 'Rocker volleyball coaching staff is her college experience at South Dakota Mines as a student-athlete and how she will be able to relate that to the current volleyball players. "That is the biggest thing our assistants need at SD Mines --- a good understanding of how things work here --- academically and the extracurricular pressure these student-athletes are exposed to," McCampbell said. The assistant coaching position will be full-time for Malone, something that will benefit the program significantly with the move to a higher level of competition. "It's nice to have an assistant that can be around in a full-time capacity role that will transition this program from NAIA to NCAA Div. II," McCampbell said. Malone's main duties will be assisting with practice and in matches and help in developing and growing the program for the NCAA Div. II switch.
