SAMFORD SHINES AT CHRISTMAS IN THE VILLAGE After months of dedicated behind-thescenes volunteer work, Samford Progress was thrilled to present this year’s Christmas in the Village - a festive celebration that lit up the heart of Samford with local businesses, musicians, community groups, markets and, of course, a touch of Christmas magic. The festivities were officially opened in John Scott Park by our entertaining MC, Troy McGilvrey. From there, the Christmas cheer spilled up and down Main Street, where visitors wandered between musicians, food trucks, craft stalls and lively roving performers. Main Street was brimming with activity. Samford Patisserie once again delighted crowds with its stunning Christmas window display and specialty treats, while Belle Property kept young festival-goers smiling with fairy floss and face painting. The Samford Valley Veterinary Hospital’s pet photo booth proved a crowd favourite, and classic car enthusiasts were drawn to a nostalgic display at FARSTA. Local musical talent filled the Farmers Hall - sponsored by Samford Garage - as shoppers browsed the markets and enjoyed the food trucks. Back in John Scott Park, the carols, supported by Community Bank Samford, set the scene beautifully. McGrath Samford’s dunk tank was hilarious. The Clan Stuart Pipes & Drums impressed as always,
the Bayside Divas had the crowd singing along, and the Moreton Bay Big Band closed the evening with a finale full of festive spirit.
Community groups were out in force too. Samford Support Network lit up the evening with glow sticks, the CWA ladies tempted passers-by with homemade treats, Samford Men’s Shed showcased their fine woodwork, Samford Stags filled tummies with their burgers and Creative Samford , the Potters Collective and Samford Patchworkers offered an array of unique Christmas gifts. There was kids craft from Rusty Bucket Floristry and face painting by Makers on Main. Station Street put on a show with Christmas Nick’s pet portraits, Christmas bauble and snowman ornament making. No Christmas celebration is complete
without Santa and he certainly arrived in style - touring the village in a vintage ute, escorted by our happy Samford Rural Fire Brigade volunteers. Children flocked to Wonderland in the RSL grounds thanks to Admire Dentistry, where MC David Reed kept the fun flowing and the local Scouts entertained the crowd. Little ones penned letters to Santa, browsed the beautiful Baffies books and enjoyed carols from the Samford Community Singers. The lights were once again a showstopper. Craig Doyle Real Estate dazzled with snow and sparkle, while Samford Valley Garden Centre outdid themselves with an extraordinary light display. Our heartfelt thanks go to every business that dressed their shopfronts in tinsel and cheer and planned such wonderful activities. There were 50 activities this year and your efforts truly brought Main Street and beyond to life. And of course, none of this would be possible without our generous sponsors.
