SAMFORD CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR What a (hot) night! The SDPPA was thrilled to again present this year’s Christmas on Main Street, an event many months in the making, bringing together local businesses, musicians, community groups and markets, all wrapped up in Christmas lights magic. We were privileged to welcome Grandmother Mulara who officially opened the event in John Scott Park before Cr Grimwade took on the MC proceedings for another year. A very special start to a joyful night of entertainment, with musicians, food and craft markets and roving entertainment across local venues up and down the street. Main Street was alive with activity – kids with crazy hair from District Barber jumped for joy in the Mooey’s jumping castle. Samford Patisserie turned it on again with their amazing Christmas display and specialty treats; Belle Property got in on the act too with snow cones and fairy floss. Across the street, Samford Valley Veterinary Hospital was helping kids make reindeer food all while being dazzled by their spectacular light display, and how about that incredible flame thrower at Flametree Financial – it wouldn’t be the same without him! Local musical acts performed at the Farmers Hall sponsored by Samford Garage,

while people enjoyed market shopping and snacking on a famous Stags burger. Did you hear the carols in John Scott Park bringing the Christmas spirit to life? The addition of the Clan Stuart Pipes & Drums was fantastic and the Moreton Bay Big Band ended the night with so much Christmas spirit.

It was great to see local community groups fundraising including Samford Support Network with their glow sticks, the lovely CWA ladies selling their delicious treats and the Samford Museum keeping our local history alive. Did you deck the halls – I mean deck - at Little Tree or rock out with John Hudson & Tex Duo? What about Santa in his fancy vintage cars, chauffeured up and down the street - more than once - to the shrieks of

delight and waves from the children, many who were lined up at HMG Home Loans Storyland in the RSL grounds, making a wish at the WISH-mas tree, creating a decoration and listening to the singing Scouts. How amazing were the lights of Craig Doyle Real Estate and Samford Valley Garden Centre who excelled themselves this year and to all the businesses who got involved in the Samford Chambers Christmas Lights Competition? It really brings the street together so thank you to everyone who took the time to trim your business in tinsel and lights. Thanks also to our local food traders and the businesses who planned their beautiful activities. A huge, warm hug and thank you to our sponsors and supporters – Community Bank Samford, Samford Garage, HMG Home Loans, Samford Valley Veterinary Hospital, Craig Doyle Real Estate, Mooey’s, Loan Market Scenic, The Movement Team, Peter Dutton MP, City of Moreton Bay and Nikki Boyd MP. To the SDPPA organising committee – Leah Hudson, Don Cousins, Natia van Rooyen, Mandy Bell and Chris Bowen – you’re amazing – and to the ASK ME volunteers from our local churches – you were fantastic.
