Dakota Life Greetings from Newell
This month Dakota Life we dive into the history and get a glimpse of the future in Newell. Founded as the headquarters of the largest earthen dam project in the world (at the time), Newell boomed as the irrigation project helped the surrounding area flourish. Sheep are synonymous with Newell because the surrounding area has heavy clay soil, which produces some of the best fleece in the world. We visit with a rancher and longtime owner of the Newell sale barn to talk about the good and baaaahd about raising and selling sheep.
