President’s Report
As I am writing this article, the City of LakeAndes is just wrappinguptheirAnnualFishDaysCelebration. Whatan exciting weekend!!! The town was full of people running fromoneeventtothenext! AsIreminisceaboutthepast weekend, I can’t help but think about how this event happens and how appreciative we should all be to those volunteers in our communities that are willing to put the time in to prepare and organize each event. Also those volunteers that are willing to work during the event! Without the people willing to volunteer, these events wouldnotbeareality! Weknowthosepeoplethatareout there working for our communities so please when you meet them on the street stop and take the time to tell them thank you!!!
In the month of July many of our city governments are in their reorganization stage. As City Officials what do we do to help the newly elected officials who join our local governments? July is the month I make certain every Council person has an updated Ordinance Book, I also try to share with all of our elected officials any information I have regarding training and I encourage them to attend. I make certain that every council person receives the Robert’s Rules of Order to refresh or educate our council on the proper procedures for our council meetings. I know that providing the information is key to helping our local governing board be successful at the roles that they have taken on as alderman.
