Steamboat Park This seminar identifies those conditions under which automatic sprinkler protection and/or fire alarm systems are required. The application of the fire area concept will be discussed, along with the varying extent of which sprinkler protection required based upon specific situations. In addition, the discussion will address many of the key code conditions under which the presence of an automatic sprinkler system can be used to modify other requirements. Specific topics include: • Overview of fire protection sytems •Definition and application of fire areas • Required sprinkler and alarm protection based on occupancy classification • Optional use of automatic sprinklers. Upon completion, participants will be better able to: • Understand the design, construction and application of fire areas. • Identify those conditions under which an automated sprinkler system is required. • Identify the various types of alarm systems and when they are required to be installed. • Determine those situations where sprinkler protection can be used as a trade-off for other code requirements.
