The SDMLWork Comp Fund membership has grown 136 percent since the year 2000. That is 274 new members since the turn of the century and two-thirds of those members have joined in the last 10 years. We now cover 29,000 employees and volunteers across the state, including 9,000 Emergency Service workers, such as Volunteer Firefighters, EMT’s and Search & Rescue workers.
The Fund’s rates have been extremely competitive and stable. Over the past 11 years our rates have actually decreased by 1%. Because of its financial strength and stability, the SDMLWC Fund gives over 20 percent back to its members in the form of Renewal, Equity and Loss ControlCredits.RenewalCreditsaregivenasarewardfor continuedsupportandmembership.TheEquityCreditisa return on investment based on a pro-rata share of the amount of contribution and length of membership.
