Kathie Lewis
Kathie Lewis retired from Heartland Consumer Power District after 39 years of outstanding, dedicated service. Hired as a secretary in June of 1977, she was Heartland’s third full-time employee and retired as the company ’s longest-serving employee. During her tenure, Kathie worked for six different General Managers and CEOs, under three different job titles and in three different office buildings. Her responsibilities included typings correspondence, answering the phone, greeting guests, preparing for board meetings, accounts payable and helping with other administrative tasks. Sharla Fedeler has been employed with Heartland Consumers Power District since 1980, when she joined as a bookkeeper. Today she serves as accountant and is responsible for accounts receivable, customer billing, assisting with audits, budgets and economic development incentives, and more. She has also spent time managing Heartland’s records management program. Heartland was Sharla’s first employer after graduating from Nettleton College in Sioux Falls,SD. During her tenure, she has worked under four General Managers and CEOs, four supervisors and in two different office buildings.
