Dept. of Transportation To host STIP Meetings

the South Dakota Department of transportation (SDDot) has announced dates for informational public meetings to discuss the development of the 20232026 Statewide transportation improvement Program (StiP).

the StiP is a four-year program that lists projects developed through the coordinated efforts of the Department of transportation, transportation commission, state and federal agencies, local and tribal governments, metropolitan planning organizations, public agencies, transportation providers, citizens, and other interested parties. the program identifies highway and intermodal improvements to preserve, renovate, and enhance South Dakota's transportation system.

interested parties can take part in the development process by attending an informal or formal public meeting held across the state this summer.

tRAffiC ContRol DeviCe GRAntS AWARDeD

the South Dakota municipal Street maintenance Association recently awarded four Traffic Control Device Grants at their Spring training on april 26 in rapid city.

the cities of Kimball, White lake, alexandria, and martin were each awarded a $2,500 grant.

Grant applicants are required to be SDmSma members and the grant funds are to be used for Traffic Control Devices such as speed display units, traffic count units, and flashing warning signs for pedestrians. ■
